Update for Rose

Update for Rose

Welcome to May, y’all, and to a world filled with beautiful lush green trees and colorful flowers.

It is a fact that I can sit for hours looking out the front door of Tabby’s Place, soaking in the spring beauty.  I knew that the winter would go away and spring would come for a long visit.

I have developed some new fun hobbies here in the lobby.  I enjoy watching visitors pull up to the sanctuary.  Y’all know how I love visitors (and staff, and volunteers, and other cats).  My day is made when someone stops by for a visit.

I also take pleasure watching people and cats move throughout the lobby, headed for the other rooms and suites.  Jonathan, our Executive Director, has 2 office mates, Stafford and Sherbet.  They are both so sweet and have a baby gate on the office door, so I am able to stop by for a visit any time.  I like to think of myself as the social director of the lobby.

I had a wonderful birthday. Thank you for your well wishes and for being my sponsor.  Having you as my sponsor is the best gift in the universe!  Can you believe that I am now 6 years old?  I still feel like a kitten, and the way I chase the laser pointer through the lobby is rather kitten-like.

Since I last wrote, we had another New Volunteer Orientation.  It makes my heart feel so good to see the enthusiasm and love the volunteers bring to Tabby’s Place.  When my correspondent is at Tabby’s Place on an orientation day, she makes sure to share my story with the new volunteers as well as with the visitors.  The events team has been very busy this past month representing Tabby’s Place at local events, sharing all the wonderful Tabby’s Place activities, lots of pictures of us beautiful cats, and Tabby’s Place merchandise (from our Zazzle Shop).

What excites me the most these days is sharing the incredible news of Tabby’s Place’s first expansion in 15 years!  Our new wing, Quinn’s Corner, will be a sanctuary and a home filled with love and medical care for cats with FeLV (feline leukemia).

The best way to describe my health update this month is, “never a dull moment.” Good news first: my coughing and wheezing seem to have subsided. Paws crossed that it stays that way!

Now for the non-good news.  A few weeks ago, I was not feeling like Rose.  I was very tired, ran a fever, and had no interest in food.  Yes, NO INTEREST IN FOOD.

Despite how I felt, I am the luckiest kitty in the universe.  I feel so loved, because I think that almost every volunteer, staff member, and visitor observed how I was feeling and went to the vet staff with their concerns.  I was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection (UTI). Bless their hearts, the vet staff has always been there for me.

My correspondent was beside herself with tears because of how ill I was last summer.  The vet staff kept an eagle eye on me, gave me medication, and soon enough my UTI was cured.  In no time, I was back to myself —sitting in my chair, flipping off my diapies, eating extra food, and being silly affectionate Rose.

I really enjoy stroller rides, so my correspondent tries to get me “on the road” more often now that the weather is so nice.  Our routine is to go around the building on the sidewalk and to be sure to stop by to see Pixie in her window box in the Community Room.  The sun and fresh air bring me back to my kitten days in Virginia.  Life is so beautiful, and I am so lucky to be at Tabby’s Place and to have you as my sponsor.  Thank you!

Whether your children are human or fur babies, belated Happy Mother’s Day!  I am sending you some special whisker kisses!

Love,
Rose
