Update for Regina

Dear Team Regina,

Everyone at Tabby’s Place — cats, kittens, staff, and volunteers alike — has been so excited about sunshiny days and the advent of spring!

In our enthusiasm to escape cold winter’s grip and dance among the daffodils, we forgot how quickly Mother Nature can turn on her heels and bring on wild, windy, very wet days. Gray skies and disheartening drizzle began to cast a pall over everyone’s spirits. Something had to be done to return smiles to everyone’s faces … and, thus, Tabby’s Place’s own version of March Madness (Meow Madness) was born!

For those unfamiliar with March Madness, the NCAA, or national college basketball championships, please allow me to elucidate just how the Tabby’s Place Meow Madness championship worked.

Sixteen cats, also known as the Sweet Sixteen, were chosen to “compete” for champion status at our fine facility. Voting was open to all our fans on social media to vote for their favorite feline amongst the sixteen, and eight cats were eliminated from the contest.  The remaining eight cats again competed as fan faves, and the Final Four were selected.

This is when the competition really became intense, and the field was narrowed down to two cats who would compete one-on-one in the Championship Round. Who would ultimately triumph and emerge victorious as the Tabby’s Place Meow Madness winner?

So many feline favorites were represented in the initial sixteen — young and old, tux, tabby, tortie, and calico — and your sweet and adorable Regina was among them!

Our feisty little girl was a keen competitor, but she had a tough first-round match against another adorable and incredibly popular fur baby, Prescott. Regina tried her best competition strategy, posing for some cleverly coy head shots, and then pulled the perfect publicity stunt by shedding her “skoot skirt” and diaper for a romp around her suite au naturelle.

Unfortunately, Regina lost in that first round. The ultimate winner was not Prescott, but an elderly wise statesman and handsome gentleman, Steven. He has been at Tabby’s Place for over fifteen years and is loved by all. Congratulations to Steven!

Sporting events aside, Regina has enjoyed a zestful and healthy month. We are continually grateful to you for making this possible. Your generosity provides the tender daily care Regina needs, as well as all the affection, stroller rides, and playtime that she deserves!

Usually content with her new routine of being crated for mealtimes, Regina one day decided instead to escape Houdini-like in protest. First, she escaped from her ‘skoot skirt,’ and then the very next day did her Houdini act with the crate. The good news is that after her diet change, her stool has returned to normal.

On Saturday, April 26, we are holding a Volunteer Open House from noon to 4 p.m. If you live close enough to visit, Regina would love to see you and present herself for petting and head bonks. There will be tours, information on the many ways volunteers help keep the sanctuary running, and refreshments.

Wishing you a bloom-filled spring, filled with love. Your devotion to clever Regina touches our hearts, and we are forever grateful for your generosity so that she can live a great life at Tabby’s Place.

Your correspondent,
Tina
