Yes, I’m being followed by a moonshadow
Moonshadow, moonshadow
Leaping and hopping on a moonshadow
Moonshadow, moonshadow…
– Cat Stevens, “Moonshadow”
In the Tabby’s Place galaxy, every cat is a star. Your generosity knits them into a constellation of kindness, lighting their lives with love.
But even in a sky of standouts, one cat sparkles like no other. Meet our miraculous moonshadow, Prescott.
Leaping, hopping, and loving at warp-speed, Prescott seems immune to sorrow. It’s nearly impossible to speak her name without adding the word “precious.” Prescott is starstruck with all living beings, and other cats are as smitten as we are with this lithe light-force.
But it wasn’t long ago that darkness was her only companion.
Prescott was just a little grey stray in Rhode Island, scrabbling out a life between dawn and dusk. Knowing her giddy heart, we can’t imagine how lonely she must have been. But that was about to be the least of her problems.
No one knows just what happened one terrible night. But something – or someone – hurt Prescott…badly. The stars in the sky must have wept over the broken girl.
Prescott’s injuries were so extreme, most shelters couldn’t fathom taking her in. But Tabby’s Place is known worldwide for saving the most fragile stars. Our annual Linda Fund provides extraordinary emergency care for cats who arrive in desperate need. Thanks to our donors’ generosity, we were able to welcome Prescott into our sheltering sky.
But the hour was late. By the time she made it to Tabby’s Place, the silver princess was not expected to survive. Prescott was on the brink of sepsis (a chain reaction of infection), and even a superstar emergency vet warned us not to hold onto hope.
We’re extremely bad at accepting that advice.
We’re extremely good at keeping the Tabby’s Place promise: little one, you will have everything you need to thrive. You are ours, and we are yours. You are a Tabby’s Place cat!
A solar system of nurses and doctors orbited Prescott, and when dawn came, the mighty moonshadow had light in her eyes. The world was new. Prescott was going to live!
Since that day, Prescott has been leaping and hopping from one “impossible” dream to another. Instead of needing reconstructive surgery for her injuries, Prescott’s own body healed itself. Instead of needing her tail amputated, Prescott carried it like a quirky comet.
Instead of feeling sorry for herself, Prescott flew into action making sure everyone else feels loved. Basking in this little moonshadow, it’s impossible not to love life itself.
Whether she’s somersaulting with best buddy Hips or holding court in a happy human lap, Prescott is our Lobby’s brightest star. Silver as a satellite, she has become the full moon, bright with the light of love’s sun.
But why has precious Prescott not been adopted? Her injuries left her incontinent, in need of a high level of daily care. This is understandably too tall an order for most adopters.
But we believe in moonshadows and miracles at Tabby’s Place.
Until Prescott’s adopter comes into orbit, you can be Prescott’s star. Your monthly sponsorship will provide skilled care to express her bladder and bowels, medical testing to keep her urinary tract healthy, and most importantly, the sunshine of tenderness.
Prescott needs your beautiful light. Will you become one of her most precious people?
Your donation will go where it’s most needed, ensuring we can provide for all of our cats.
