Update for Princess Bubblegum

Greetings, Princess Bubblegum Sponsors!

It’s time to spring forward into spring! I try to be optimistic about Daylight Savings Time, but the children and animals that live with me do not abide. Everyone is confused, tired and hungry. Fortunately, it only lasts a day. This morning, Princess Bubblegum and her crew were patiently waiting for food at 6am, right on time. Life is good.

Life is also busy. Right now, life is full of boxes as we prepare to move. The cats are quite happy, climbing in and out of all the boxes. While all of that is a bit stressful for the humans, Princess Bubblegum is content. She is eating her food well and she still plays with Marcy. Maybe she plays a bit reluctantly, but they do play.

One day, I came home from work and heard a very concerned meow. We have a bed with drawers underneath, and the cats love to hop in there if it’s open for half a second. Whenever I hear someone meowing frantically, I check to make sure all the cats are okay. If I cannot find anyone, I open the drawers and check.

I saw the four cats that live in the bedroom. They were all sleeping on our bed, but I still heard the meow. My husband said he had fed the two cats on the other side of the apartment just a half hour ago. Princess Bubblegum gets crated while the two cats are fed, after which my hubby let her out.  She must be in the kids’ room, I thought — but still I heard the concerned meow.

I found Mariska relaxing in the kids room, but Princess Bubblegum was nowhere to be found. I checked the drawers again…still, no Princess Bubblegum. Finally, I opened our laundry hamper, and at last there was the Princess. She scrambled happily onto my shoulder.

We all have no idea how she got in there. The hamper opens from the side and is almost always closed. The only explanation we can think of is that the hamper was left open, and she must have jumped in. When she jumped in, her weight closed the hamper. She could not have been in there more than ten minutes. My husband had just let her out of her crate. Until we get access to surveillance cameras and time machines, this will remain a mystery. It does make me want to get surveillance cameras for the animals for when we are not home — or even for when we are home!

Stay tuned for moving shenanigans next month! Thank you again, Princess Bubblegum Sponsors!
