Update for Patches

Happy Fall!

There’s just a few days of summer left. The leaves are showing hints of change; the rain has cooled the 90+ degree days.

Patches cares not: as always, she is my desktop companion. I have the mildest of news this month; Patches is limping a little on her front paws. It’s likely due to her arthritis. We are hoping that a booster injection of Pentosan, a joint support medication, will help her be more comfortable.

Fabulous Tabby’s Place Junior Vet Tech Jess also paid Patches a visit; she helped me clip Patches’s nails and shave down some of her fur that has started to clump a bit. The aim is to prevent matting, which becomes much harder to resolve after it has gotten to that point!

Look below for our peaceful, resting girl. She’s doing what she does best!

The little grey fluff ball is Maritza, my temporary foster kitten! She’s only five-and-a-half weeks old, just a wee baby, and she needs socialization while she grows to adoptable age.

Maritza and Patches don’t interact with each other, but it’s a wild contrast to see 3/4-pound Maritza, at the very start of life, and Patches, who has reached 22 years and four months as of the end of September.

With lots of good care and a bit of genetic luck, Maritza could make it to 22, too!

Thank you for your support for Patches. People like you help ensure that cats like Maritza and Patches have world-class care and loving homes, whether they’re permanent, foster, or at Tabby’s Place. Our mission is as strong now as it was on day one!

Until next month!
