Update for Patches

Happy New Year!

Where has the time gone? Preparation for the holidays came and went, the holidays came and went, and New Year’s Eve came and went. Now we are settling into 2019.

Patches has been somewhat stable this past month. She has been wobbly – literally so – in terms of balance. She has decided that a particular bedroom carpet is a good place to pee, so that bedroom’s door remains closed at all times. It’s possible that the seizure she had several weeks ago did a little damage, as she seems to be cognitively weakened.

The other change since the seizure is less of a problem: Patches has become significantly more demanding of attention and snuggle time. The past few days, she has slept curled up in a ball next to my neck. Patches never slept in bed with me prior to the seizure; now she does so every night.

I consider it a silver lining to what was otherwise a very dark cloud.

Her appetite is good, as is her digestion; she takes her medication well and stubbornly sits on the bathroom sink to await a human to turn the faucet on. Things can always be worse; for now, I am very glad with how things are.

Much love to you, and our gratitude, too! Thank you for sponsoring Patches. Until next month!
