An awesomely April hello to you, my amazing Sponsor!
I have felt the tease of some warm weather from the front door of Tabby’s Place, and boy, have I enjoyed it!

My good news this month is that the “mystery wound” on my leg is all healed up, and I am once again flying around the Lobby bandage-free! Yay, me!
I do not like dwelling on sadness, but I will tell you that March was not one of the happiest months at Tabby’s Place. Two of my Lobby friends, Boobalah and Grecca, are now wearing their angel wings, along with Mr. Man and Lola. We have all been doing our best to bring the smiles back to the faces of our staff and volunteers.
Maybe it is the sadness, or just winter boredom, but I have been picking a little too much at my chest fur again. What can I say? It is just something I do, and I refuse to tell anyone why! April will be a happier month, thanks to a bit of behavior medication to ease my anxiety.

March brought a close to our “Meow Madness” tournament on social media. Before I say more, I would like to thank you from the top of my head to the tip of my tail for your votes, love, and support!
I will say, when the voting ended and my beloved staff member Carolyn came through the lobby saying “Olive babe, we need to have a talk,” I knew I was not going to be happy about the direction of this conversation. Sadly, in the end, the final votes did not fall my way. I am nothing if not gracious, and I concede and congratulate Steven on being the Champion this year (I will admit, the dude has been here a long time and I suppose is deserving of some love, too). So, he can have this title, this one time … in the end, I am still the Queen of the Lobby—today, tomorrow and always!

We try to make sure there are not too many dull moments in the sanctuary lobby, so this month Col. PeB’s (my loving nickname for my boyfriend, Colonel Peabody) and I have taken up playing badminton. Oh, what fun this is!
We each have a racket and slap these little things they call a birdie with it, trying to score points. Now, one might think our being paraplegic would be the biggest challenge we face, but that is not the case!
The biggest challenge is keeping Berry, Hips and Prescott from stealing the birdie and running away with it! They think they are so smart, but what they do not realize it is just plastic and not a real birdie! We keep telling Jonathan that we need a net going across the nice hallway leading to Quinn’s Corner, but so far we have been denied. He seems to think it would be a tripping hazard … what does he know??? (I know, he is the boss, so he knows all and is always right). Col. PeB’s and I are going to keep practicing.
National Respect Your Cat Day was on March 28th. I am going out on a limb in admitting that I am not sure we really need this special day because we already have it pretty good at Tabby’s Place. We are served our meals on time, every day. There is no shortage of warm and soft laps to sit on, or toys to play with. If we want to take a nap in someone’s chair, no problem, they simply find another one to use. If we feel like helping to answer the phones, we do it; if we don’t, well then, we don’t!

If you are free, please stop in to visit us on April 26th during our Volunteer Open House between noon and 4 p.m. You can spend time with me, tour the sanctuary, and learn about our volunteer program. And the best part: Treats will be served!!!
Sending you my love and blessings for a wonderful month ahead. I am so grateful and appreciative of your love and support, to me and to Tabby’s Place. Thank you for being YOU! You make the world a brighter and happier place, and you are appreciated, today, tomorrow, and always.
Until next month…
Lots of love,
Queen Olive
