Update for Olive

Hello, Olive lovers!

Ready for another update on our girl? Olive has enjoyed a month of overall good health with one exception. She had a bout of constipation. When time and easy fixes failed to alleviate that, we had to give her an enema; that took care of it. Hopefully, this will not be a recurring issue.

Tabby’s Place is in lockdown mode at present, and our staff had been wondering about something. Without volunteers and visitors to make a fuss over her and volunteers to coddle her, would Olive’s behavior change with regards to the “meanies” (read: the staff members who tirelessly work to express her, change her diapers, and otherwise keep her happy and healthy)?

Lacking other interaction with people, would Olive’s unfailingly persnickety attitude toward our staff become more relaxed and accepting?

Olive is so accustomed to greeting visitors and being the first to check out anything new, and there’s so little of that now; surely she must miss the mental stimulation, but maybe she could find some by interacting with at least some of the staff in a more pleasant way?

Not so much, it turns out. Our little spitfire is as cranky with the staff as she’s ever been, even at a time when they represent the only human interactions she can get. Maybe it’s just as well; encountering a truly docile Olive would certainly take the staff by surprise, if not alarm them outright.

It’s hard to be apart from the felines I love so much, but lockdowns and social distancing will not last forever. I hope that you will take any and all necessary measures to stay safe. And, as usual, many thanks for your generosity in helping us keep Olive in fine style.

Your correspondent,
Stephanie

P.S.: Late-breaking news: Olive had a stroller ride today, as pictured here. Staff members are very brave souls to get Olive into a stroller!
