Update for Newman

Update for Newman

Greetings to Newman’s sponsors,

It is my hope that this update finds you as content as Newman and his fabulous friends. Newman has had an interesting month, with the arrival of a new suitemate. Just when Lester and Pyewacket stopped jockeying for kingship, there’s a new sheriff in Suite FIV, and she’s brooking no rivals. Newcomer Adelaide (pictured below) made quite a strong impression on Buddy, Newman, Lester and Pyewacket, giving them all a few whacks shortly after her arrival. Fortunately, things have settled down since that startling introduction, so perhaps she was just showing our frat boys who’s in charge. She is a precious and loving older female with a big heart and lots of love to give. She seems to fit in with this group of “mainly guys” very well.

It appears our Newman has very good hearing. He leapfrogged out to the solarium shortly after I got there, being afraid that he might miss something. Most assuredly, he did not. He leaped into my lap and was happier than a pig in mud. That’s pretty happy, right?

When I went indoors to visit with Charlie, Wolfie and Bo, who for some reason aren’t the adventurous type, Newman once again came bouncing after me to make sure he didn’t miss out on anything. Keep in mind, I don’t bring any treats (I never know what is allowed for the kitties, so just avoid them), so he is not food motivated. He is just a very social and curious kitty.

From time to time, a certain cat captures multiple staff and volunteers’ concerns. One by one, folks turn to our vet team with reports of something “off.” Oddly enough, these repeatedly-voiced concerns sometimes turn out to be…nothing. That’s what happened to Newman this month, as multiple fans noted his ear looked funny. Was it an injury? Perhaps an aural hematoma? Yes, it was…from over five years ago. In fact, Newman had this hematoma when he first arrived at Tabby’s Place. Why did so many of us notice it this month? We have no idea. Chalk it up to being neurotic about our cats’ health — something we’ll never change.

Thank you, fabulous sponsors, for caring so much about Newman. He is one super lucky kitty to have you in his life. Should you have the chance, please stop by to see him, and make sure you seek out newcomer Adelaide. She would also be so delighted to meet you.

Have a great month!
