Update for Newman

Happy New Year, Newman supporters.

It certainly is a happy 2014 in the FIV suite. Things are much calmer since super-social Dre was adopted. I am sure he is thriving now that he is getting 100% of his humans’ attention. Some kitties are just meant to be “only children,” if you know what I mean.

The suite also had a bit of a ruckus with the arrival of newcomer Doc Watson. Doc is an elderly, diabetic, sweetly sheepish cat with no eyes. Edward didn’t like Doc and let him know it. This could not go on, so Doc made a move to Jonathan’s office. (This necessitated some creativity, since we don’t want to risk the extremely unlikely event of Doc’s transmitting FIV to a Lobby cat. An extra tall baby gate is doing the trick nicely.)

So, after Dre, and after Doc, all is peaceful in 2014 for Newman and the FIV+ guys and gals. Newman is back to being a buddy to Buddy, and he’s again enjoying his jaunts outside.

Those outside visits get very short when the weather turns so cold that only snowmen are happy. On a recent visit, he lasted at most five minutes out there. I did NOT follow him, as the temperature was in the teens.

On two recent occasions, Newman’s fans reported him to be “not quite right.” Fortunately, follow-up visits with our vet revealed there to be nothing wrong at all. In fact, Newman has actually gained weight (not exactly a necessary New Year’s resolution for this boy), and has enjoyed a happy, healthy month.

As we start our journey into 2014, your continued and generous support for Newman is so greatly appreciated. Please stop by and visit our sweet boy if you have a chance. He would love to see you!

Until next month, stay warm and be well.
