Joyful Holiday Season to you, Team Moo Moo!
I had such a fun Thanksgiving. I hope you did too.
There aren’t great enough words to describe what happened here at Tabby’s Place for Thanksgiving. We had a big celebration called Thanksgiving with the Cats. The staff and volunteers were here, and many, many other nice people came too. They all wanted to visit us and give us turkey! Someone roasted it for us and cut it into bite-sized pieces. It was so delicious! We had it for our meal, and visitors gave us more!

I convinced my correspondent Nancy to give me extras. I gently pulled her turkey-holding hand toward me while gazing sweetly at her. She couldn’t resist my excellent manners. Visitors donated gifts of food and toys for us. We got lots of attention. What a way to start the holiday season. It was a Moo Moo Wow Wow day!
I’m happy to report that my health was very good this month! The medicine is working and keeping me from having asthma attacks. Living in the lobby helps, too, because we all get along. I’m very sensitive, and stress makes me start coughing. I’m so happy that my lobby roommates are calm and accepting cats.
However, I did have an emotional health dilemma! I wanted very much to send you a special holiday greeting. One that says, “this is from Moo Moo, especially for you.” I ended up having a serious identity crisis!

At first, I thought the perfect card from me would be two holiday cows saying my name. Was I named “Moo Moo” because I have a gentle nature, like cows do? I’ve been told I have beautiful eyes like cows have. Cows have nice colors and patterns in their fur. My fur is patterned and pretty.
Then I thought….my name is two moos. Should my card be two moose? Moose are peaceful animals with a quiet dignity. I’m like that. Unlike cows, they like to have a territory. I can identify with that. I have a favorite chair that I consider mine. Is a cow my spirit animal? Or is it a moose?
My head was spinning about this. I wondered, is there an animal called a moosecow? Maybe they live in Russia? My problem would be solved. I think there must be moosecow, because someone knit a hat that has moose antlers and cow ears. I’m so happy they did, because it’s the perfect card to send you that’s special. I hope you like it!

Another really fun day happened here in the lobby. We had a visit from The Dodo. Their team brought a toy basket filled with 500 spring toys and dumped them on the floor. That’s enough for every cat here, and future cats too! We were so surprised! At first, we didn’t know what was going on, but then, one by one we started to explore and play with them. (You can see the video below this update!)

All of us have been busy making our gift wish lists. We’ve been comparing notes, and it’s very funny that we all pretty much hope for the same things:
1) Even though we get such loving care here at Tabby’s Place, we all hope for a forever home and family of our own.
2) Lickable treats
3) Soft treats
4) Crunchy treats
5) Catnip
6) Toys
7) A can of real tuna
8) World peace
Correspondent Nancy tells me that her grandma held the belief that, at the stroke of midnight on Christmas Eve, all animals can talk….but only for that moment. If that’s true, we have to plan ahead and talk fast! There’s only time for two or three words! It’s unlikely that any humans will be with us so late at night. That doesn’t matter. Every one of us is absolutely certain that angels watch over us. Otherwise, none of us would be here at Tabby’s Place. Most of us probably wouldn’t be here at all. We want to speak for them to hear.

We voted on whether we would all speak collectively and say the same thing, or speak individually and everyone say what they want. A few, like Trent, voted to say their own thing. He wanted to say “Marry me” to Prescott. Figures. Hips, ever the jokester, wanted to say “Got milk?” Very funny, Hips.
Ultimately, everyone agreed we should speak all together for a variety of reasons.
Some cats thought it would be fun to shout together, like we were cheering at a football game. They thought that’s what Christmas cheer meant. I suppose Christmas cheer can be many things.
Other, more introspective cats, like the large rescued colony in Suite A, want their words to be impactful. They’re still adjusting to living here. They can’t believe they’re off the streets. Being loved and always having food is so foreign to them that many of them haven’t come to trust it yet. They will, in time. These are probably the first holidays they’ve ever had. I don’t think anyone ever cared enough about them to even give them names before they came here. They feel so grateful.
My reason is that I live in the room with Grecca, who is far and away the loudest cat in Tabby’s Place history. I’m soft-spoken. She would drown out anything I tried to say if it was different from her! Mostly though, just like all the other cats, I want to be sure the angels hear us clearly.
We voted paws down to shout “We Love You!” to our angels who guided us here, to the staff and volunteers who love and take care of us, and for the fortunate few like me who have a sponsor—to you for taking us into your hearts.
Happy Holidays, dear sponsor. I love you.
Love,
Moo Moo
