Update for Mona

Dear caring Sponsor,

Every April, we enjoy a very special national holiday. April 25th is National Hairball Awareness Day! On this day, we all honor the ceaseless creativity of cats in producing those unique art objects that surprise and delight humans everywhere. Every April, I groom myself with special care, as I prepare to celebrate this annual event.

Now, allow me to share with you the news from the FIV+ Suite. Here’s the top headline: I love the warm weather! I have been spending long days in the solarium, cuddling with my good friends, including Buddy and Wolfie. In other big news, sweet Eno, who only recently joined us in the FIV+ Suite, was already adopted! He is now in his forever home.

My health is good, although I have lost just a little weight. But there is a good explanation. Apparently, the Tabby’s Place staff was concerned when a number of my dear suitemates, including Charlie, Bucky, Lester, and Stormie, developed severe diarrhea. So, the people in charge decided that it would be best to move the entire Suite to a prescription diet. The prescription diet, while very effective in relieving GI issues, was not at all tasty! As a result, we all ate a bit less, and lost a little bit of weight in the process. Buddy, however, went on a full blown “hunger strike,” which caused us some concern.

However, I am happy to report that the diarrhea problems seem to be resolved. I am also happy to report that we will be transitioning to a different prescription diet which, although still beneficial for digestion, promises to be much tastier. The transition, I am told, will be a long one, but I am glad that we are headed in the right direction! Meanwhile, fortunately, Buddy is again eating, and his bloodwork has returned to normal.

I forgot to mention: there is another holiday in April, which is important to observe. April 30th is National Adopt a Shelter Cat Day. This holiday always reminds me how lucky I am to be at this wonderful place. Whether or not I am ever adopted, I know that I will always be cared for and loved. You make it all possible for me, and I am so grateful to you. At the same time, I realize that other cats are not as lucky. April 30 would be a good day to adopt a new family member, don’t you agree?

Until next month, I remain, yours truly,

xoxoxo
