Update for Max

Hello, friends of Max,

This past weekend, I overheard Max and his special feline friend Sammy referred to as the Tabby’s Place “Power Couple!” So, in this month that celebrates love, I thought it might be fun to take a closer look at their relationship.

In some ways, Sammy and Max exemplify the adage that “opposites attract.” If we compare them to Oscar and Felix of “The Odd Couple,” Max would be Oscar. He is outgoing, preferring his own way to that of others, and a touch on the grumpy side. He is also comical, and his eyes will sparkle with a hint of mischief when those most familiar with him try to bend his will in a different direction.

Our Sammy, on the other hand, is shy and yielding. She would much rather allow Max to take control of any situation and then follow his lead, rather than take charge herself. Small and charming, Sammy is a follower. She is happiest when able to share quiet time with Max and those she knows best.

When Cupid was working his magic in Adoption Room #2, he sure came up with a pair that compliments, respects and is loyal to one another. The two cats are never apart.

In life, it is so important to find someone who is always there for you, no matter what the circumstances. I think that, if Sammy could understand Max’s medical issues, she would rejoice when his weight remains stable, and worry when it begins to fluctuate again (as it has this month). She probably doesn’t register those details, but cats do understand when their companions do not feel up to par. As Sammy sees our staff caring for Max, she knows they are both loved, and in good hands.

As Max gets on in years, it’s likely he’ll face medical issues common to cats of a certain age. Come what may, Max is blessed with your love and continued support, and I can’t thank you enough. He’s also adored by staff, volunteers, and his special friend Sammy.

On this Valentine’s Day, I think he is a pretty lucky fellow.

Thank you, dear sponsors, for being such an important part of his blessings.
