Hello, friends of Max!
I am happy to report that in true holiday spirit, Max’s spirits remain positive and upbeat.
Holiday, you might ask?
Yes, it’s almost Halloween, my favorite holiday of the year. I love its colors, the smiles it brings to children’s faces, and the costumes that allow you to be anything you want to be, just for one day. At Tabby’s Place, we might see staff and volunteers dressed up for fun as something special: you guessed it! Cats!
I think in a way, Max understands this holiday spirit with a special sense all his own. In past years, I remember him sitting on his window sill or on his cat tree watching the comings and goings of visitors, volunteers and staff. His uncanny sense of cat curiosity is right on the mark when something new or different is going on, and I think he truly enjoys being a part of our traditions.
From a health standpoint, Max has been dealing with a urinary tract infection. It was detected after he was observed crying in and out of the litter box. Urinary tract infections are treated with medication, to which Max seems to be responding well.
The vet staff again attempted to remove Max from his steroid medication; a gradual wean off of this type of medication is always best. However, just as in past attempts, our fellow started to see a weight loss. As this medication seems to help keep his weight stable, it was resumed as part of his protocol.
We here at Tabby’s Place remain truly grateful for your kind support of our beloved Max. If a beautiful fall day puts you in the mood for a car ride, take a drive through the gorgeous hills of Hunterdon County, New Jersey and make a stop at the sanctuary Max is blessed to call “home.” He would be very pleased with the pleasure of your company. Remember: a gentle cat costume might earn you one of HIS special “cat-smiles!”
