Update for Mary

Hello, my beloved sponsors! I hope that your September has been happy and healthy so far.

Guess what?? Our new-ish “Curbside Volunteering” program is growing and yours truly is a part of it!  Volunteers can now sign up to take some of us kitties out for a ride around the Tabby’s Place grounds in a pet stroller. And, I am lucky enough to be on the list!

So a volunteer can drop by, scoop me up, get me all cuddled up in a pet stroller, and away we go! I am safely zipped in behind a screen, but I can still see everything around me.

At first, I was a bit shy and unsure about these adventures, but now I am an old pro! In fact lately, when volunteers arrive, I chase them down to get a chance to ride! You know me, I am not a bully in any way… but I will hurry ahead of my suitemates to make sure that I am the first in line. Can you picture it? I’m a grey fluffy blur as I whirl past the other kitties and smile up at the volunteer with “Pleeeeeeeaazzzzze?? Me first!  Me first!” written all over my big green eyes.

My correspondent and I are attaching lots of pictures to this update for your entertainment. A few of me on a stroller ride, and a few of me during my correspondent’s recent visit.

YES, she can visit me in person again!!! I can’t even put into words how happy we were to see each other. It’s been so so SO long! We just hugged and hugged and then hugged some more.

You’ll see in the pictures how blissful I was while she petted me. We had the best time catching up face to furry face. She told me all about the strict rules that correspondents must follow to visit our sponsorable cats (like me!) to make sure that we all stay safe and healthy. It’s tough for either of us to believe how different the world is now. But we are all figuring out how to adjust and find joy where we can.

I am happy to report that I have been in good health again this month. With autumn quickly approaching, I have been dividing my time between the cozy cubbies inside Suite A and the not-too-hot sunshine in the solarium.

Staff and volunteers alike joke that I leave my “mark” wherever I go. I wish it wasn’t true… it is endlessly embarrassing to leak poop as I do. But I thank my lucky stars every day because I know that you and all of my friends (kitties and humans) love me anyway. If I could stop the perpetual leaking somehow, I would in a second. It hurts my heart to see how much extra cleaning is needed in our solarium when I spend lots of time out there. But my correspondent and everyone here tells me all the time that it is more than worth it to see me so happy.

And I am here, living this wonderful life because of you! I can never thank you enough for your generous sponsorship. I hope that you and your loved ones are okay out in that wide wild world, and remember that I am always thinking about you. Every moment of every day, I am sending you all of the love that my heart can hold. And lots of big fluffy grey hugs, of course!

Until next month, be kind to one another.

Love,
Mary
