Update for Mary

Hello sponsors and happy June to you!

Mary with Angelo

Summer has begun here at Tabby’s Place, but we are still missing our volunteer friends. My roomies and I are sad that we can’t snuggle with them right now, but we are grateful for all of our staff friends who have been doing everything they can to keep our lives as normal as possible. I’m sure every single staff member is beyond exhausted, but you’d never know it. They are loving on us every chance they get!  And they are all working night and day to make sure we have everything we need. I bet they are looking forward to when our volunteer friends can visit and help out again!

I hope that wherever you are, life is at least starting to creep back in the direction of normal-ish. Perhaps you can eat outside at a restaurant now, like the humans here in NJ will be able to do soon. Perhaps you simply feel safe enough now to just take a long walk outside if the weather is as beautiful near you, as it is here. Whatever brings you joy is what I want for you because I love you with all of my furry grey heart!

I have been spending lots of time outside in our solarium lately, enjoying the sunshine and watching the goings-on in our backyard. There is so much happening at all hours of the day and night.

I was telling my correspondent about it when we spoke the other day, and then we went on and on about how much we miss each other. We both promised that there will be an endless number of hugs when we can finally be in the same room again!

I shared with her that for the last while I have been leaking excessive amounts of poop. Embarrassing, but what’s a girl to do? So of course my super fantastic vet team went into action immediately and discontinued my lactulose, which I was on to treat my constipation, and now they are monitoring me to see how I do. It is a constant balancing act, and thanks to you and your generous sponsorship, our medical staff can make sure I have whatever medication or treatment or special food I need as my health changes.

So far, so good, for now… they say that everything in my backside area is feeling as it should. I of course continue to leak, but it has slowed quite a bit. Plus, my staff friends are happy that I’m off the lactulose for another reason. Apparently, it is a very sticky thick liquid that gets all over everything. I’ve never really noticed… that kind of stuff doesn’t even register in my kitty brain.

But now, even though snuggling me still requires a towel if you want to keep your clothes clean, everyone has said that at least I’m not all sticky too! My friend Tux in the Community Room is still on the lactulose, but we kitties aren’t bothered by sticky or dirty fur. My buddies and I will never let that get in the way of our cuddle-fests.

All we want is a furry warm friend with whom to curl up in the nearest cozy bed… as you can see from one of the pictures that I am attaching to this month’s update. Chewbacca is definitely one of my besties, and on any given day you can find us wrapped around each other when you wander into our suite, just like you see here.

My other picture was taken at a fun angle, and it makes me look way taller than I actually am. But I appear to be striking quite a pose, don’t you think? It certainly gives you an excellent view of my deep grey fluffiness. I hope it brings a smile to your face!

Please remember that I am always thinking about you and how grateful I am for everything you do for me. I will continue to send my love your way every day to support you, as you and your loved ones slowly try to sort out new ways of navigating your world. Thank you for continuing to sponsor me in these uncertain times. You are why I am the luckiest girl in the world!  Until next month, be kind to one another.

Love,
Mary
