Update for Mary

Happy August, my friends!

It is high summer here in Ringoes, New Jersey, and the sun’s warmth is shining brightly. I hope you are all enjoying this lovely time of year wherever you are.

Please know how much your sponsorship means to me now, more than ever. Your generosity is helping my spectacular vet team do absolutely everything they can to help me. I am still struggling quite seriously with my poor little fuzzy bottom.

I need to be honest with you because you are the humans who mean the very most to me in the whole entire world. It has been a challenging summer for me, but I refuse to let it get me down. I will always see the sunny side of things, and not just because summer is in full force. I still have my joyous attitude toward everything and everyone. So I want you to know that thanks to your sponsorship, I had the opportunity to visit an internal medicine specialist this month, in the hopes of getting to the bottom of my painful bottom.

The doctors sedated me to examine my rectum, so I thankfully don’t remember a thing. But apparently, they found significant swelling and hardened tissue that bleeds when touched. They decided to do a biopsy, which revealed that this is all just inflammatory and not cancerous. So let’s be happy with this fabulous news! The doctors decided that surgery in the area where the inflammation is would be very difficult and obviously a non-sterile environment. So all of my friends here at Tabby’s Place are continuing to evaluate options to help keep me as comfortable as possible for now.

The staff and volunteers are diligent about regular butt cleanings, antibiotics, and my change of diet. I know that I am in the best possible hands, and thanks to you, I will always have the best care that any kitty could ever hope for. I am attaching two pictures to this month’s update to show you how grateful I was on the day I got back to Tabby’s Place after my visit to the specialist.

One of my favorite volunteer best friends came to pick me up, and then we snuggled on the floor for a long time while I settled back in. Then one of my best buddies, my roomie Hailey, came over to join us. Hailey was so super happy to see me and to join the snuggle party. You will have a front-row seat to the love fest in one of my pictures. Hailey and I cuddled on our towel on our volunteer friend’s lap until I fell asleep.

I was so exhausted from my grand adventure, I couldn’t help taking a little snooze. A cat nap, if you will. My correspondent caught my nap in motion, which you’ll see in the other picture.

So please send me your best happy thoughts and love my way, and I promise to keep my grey furry chin up no matter what.

I hope you know that you are saving me every single day. I love you all! Be kind to one another.

Love,
Mary
