Update for Luna

Update for Luna

Welcome, dear sponsors, to your first update on beautiful Luna!

This is not only Luna’s debut but mine as well.  I am honored to be La Luna’s correspondent.  She is the moon, the stars, and the whole universe in a tiny little package of energy and extreme curiosity.

However, our dear Luna has had her struggles.  The poor girl has allergies that could drive any sane person (or feline) over the edge.  When I first met Luna, my heart went out to this petite creature who appeared to have suffered chemical burns.  Her skin, especially her face and ears, were, well, hot pink and she looked like she wanted to crawl out of her skin and leave it in the dust.  To say she was uncomfortable would be an understatement.

But enter the miracle that is Tabby’s Place with the magic only they can unleash, coupled with the fighting spirit Luna brought with her all the way from Kansas and well, I can only think to call her a ROCK STAR.  However, Luna experienced a flare-up of her skin issues this month. Happily, she is now doing much better once again, but for several weeks she was very uncomfortable. We don’t know what triggered this. She also had a follow-up appointment with her dermatologist, who was pleased with her progress. Luna is slowly having her medications decreased and her stool has improved.

Our feisty little girl is on a mission of sorts.  She is as crazy and busy as ever.  She recently crawled into both the medical fridge and the incubator. She also likes to climb behind the blood test machinery to watch the bubbles flow through the supply tubes.

And on occasion, as she runs around the medical suite embracing the joy of life, I may be heard singing to her (with all due respect to Dean Martin):

“When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that’s amore,

When the world seems to shine like you’ve had too much wine, that’s amore….”

Yes, our girl Luna, with the battles she faces daily to keep her allergies in check, makes anyone who is lucky enough to be in her orbit “moonstruck”.  She and all of us at Tabby’s Place are grateful to you, dear sponsors, for giving her the chance to shine.

Your Correspondent,
Sue
