Update for Kitten Fund

Happy December, Kitten Fund friends!

Do you remember, way back in the spring, when we seemed so bereft of kittens? Where, oh where were all the kittens? Yeah, me neither!

Even though it’s snowy and bitterly cold outside, inside at Tabby’s Place, we’re still bringing in babies like we’re in the heart of springtime. Quite frankly it’s a good respite from the early arrival of deep winter. We’re as awash in kittens as we were in high kitten season, with new babies Buffy, Jodi, Benny, Joon, Sonnet, Haiku and Keaton as our newest arrivals.

Benny and Joon are especially fortunate to have joined the Tabby’s Place family, as their peepers need all the help they can get. Joon arrived with one horrifically ruptured eye, which our vet removed. Benny, despite being only four months of age, appears to have juvenile cataracts, for which he will be seeing a specialist. We know from experience, though, that whether they can see it or not, these little ones can surely feel the love of Tabby’s Place holding them snug and warm.

As these newcomers settle in, one of our veteran kittens, Camille (featured in these photos), has finally made her debut in the Community Room. Poor Camille has been isolated in Ringworm for all of her four-plus months with us, so it’s a great triumph that she’s finally foiled the fungus.

Yes, you read that right. When Camille arrived at Tabby’s Place, corn was still on the cob and tomatoes were still on the vine. The sun was warm and bright, and the crickets sang us to sleep at night. Little Camille has been in isolation since August, poor thing. You can imagine how ecstatic she is to be freeeeeeeee! This little sweetheart is busy making up for lost play-, cuddle-, and being-too-adorable-for-words-time.

Once again, friends, this has been quite an eventful year for kitten lovers at Tabby’s Place. From the heartbreak of losing our little Florence in January, to the highs of peak kitten season, from heroic mamas like Juanita, to their tough-and-tender babies like, well, all of them, it’s never a dull moment. Every day with these little ones is such a gift for us, and I offer you my deepest gratitude for all you do to make each day a blessing for the kittens, too.

I hope that you have at least one cat of your own at home to love and snuggle with this holiday season. Know that you also have the devotion of all the kittens of Tabby’s Place!
