Update for Kitten Fund

Dear kitten friends,

Last month I gave you a sneak peek at two sweet little bottle babies, Neva and Keely. Well, just look at these girls now!

Time flies when you’re a kitten, and it flies by for those of us caring for them, too. Neva and Keely were fostered for their first few weeks, so I didn’t get a chance to meet them until they’d grown a bit – and they’ve grown so fast. They’ve gotten so much bigger already, and soon they’ll be romping around the apartment bedroom. Having met them, and knowing how sweet they are, I can’t imagine it will be long before they find their forever homes.

Our girls were joined by another pair of bottle babies, Django and Broomhilda this month. This pair are not littermates, but they are colony-mates. They came to us through our Trap-Neuter-Release program, and while their mamas were feral enough to qualify for the “R” part of the program, these little ones, like Neva and Keely, are so sweet you just want to kiss and snuggle them – endlessly.

Some years, we’ve been overwhelmed with kittens, having upwards of 20 at a time. We don’t have so many kittens so far this year, but we have had a newsy bunch nonetheless.

You’ll remember the saga of the orinch kitty family – Halladay and her babies Chooch, Cole, Chase, and Mayberry – who were rescued from an industrial area in Philly. Well, Mama Halladay, FIV and all, was adopted before she even made it to the FIV+ suite. The big question, though, was the status of the kids, and that turned out to be a mixed bag. Angela wrote a blog post to break the news that little Cole is most likely FIV+ as well.

Cole’s off in his foster home now, and Chooch and Chase have already moved on to their forever homes. I’d like someone to explain to me, however, how beautiful, darling Mayberry is not yet spoken for? Ah, well, if there’s one thing we’ve learned about kittens (and really, we’ve learned waaay more than one thing), it’s that the perfect home arrives when it’s supposed to. Mayberry’s loving family just hasn’t arrived yet…and we’re happy to fill in in the meantime!

Even as these sweet ones grow and move on to their forever homes, we’ve got more babies arriving, including a brand-new matched set of three black cuties! I know you will instantly love them, just as we do.

Thank you, as always, for supporting our littlest kitties.
