The never-ending kitten season has (you guessed it!) continued for another month at Tabby’s Place. Our latest littles include Pascal, pictured at right, a loving grey-and-white guy who’s had some unusual urinary issues. (His brother Pythagoras was adopted.) We’re continuing to investigate — and to help him learn to use the litter box consistently, which has been a bit of an issue. In the meantime, he’s an absolutely adorable little puff of a cat, with thick, squooshy fur that promises to remain squooshable as he grows.
Pascal’s “crate-mate” is Yoda, a terrified but darling little marvel, all flowing blondish hair and big round eyes. He’s made some social progress – he dared to sniff my hand the other day – but it may take a while. Lucky for him (and us!) he’s found the motherlode of patience in our staff and volunteers, who are happy to wait and encourage him to trust. Yoda’s sister Leia has already been adopted.
Last month’s salvage-yard sisters, Elsie and Bandi, have been adopted — and they’re (kind of) staying together. An elderly couple adopted bouncy Bandi, and their adult daughter will be taking Elsie once Elsie has fully recovered from her broken femur. Rounding out this month’s kitten adoptions were Kanye; Nike & Reebok (together); Dalton; Biggie; Todd; Tenzing; Lenny & Squiggy (together); and Laverne. It’s pretty marvelous that as never-ending as kitten season has been, we’ve also had a never-ending stream of generous adopters willing to open their hearts and homes. Hooray for our little ones and their forever homes!
2014 was quite a year for kittens at Tabby’s Place. When I inquired about the total number of little ones that came through in the year, the response I got was, “um, geez, a lot!” Once our staff checked their stats, they were able to clarify that fully one hundred twenty-three kittens were welcomed and loved, and most of them are happily ensconced in their forever homes now. It’s pretty amazing when you stop to think of just how many happy little toddlers and tweens we all helped along the way last year, and I can only imagine how many more we’ll get to know in 2015. Thank you, as always, for sharing this journey with us!
