Update for Kitten Fund

Greetings, Sponsors of the Tiny Ones!

The first chilly, rainy days of September are here, along with pumpkin everything. Usually, this means that kitten season is winding down, but not so! Here at Tabby’s Place the kitten mania is still in full swing as several new litters arrived in the last few weeks!

And it appears, given their names, that they arrived right before lunchtime:
Ketchup, Sauerkraut, Heinz, Hunts, and Relish.
Gulden, Kraft, Grey Poupon, and Honey Mustard.
Lettuce, Tomato, and Vidalia.

That’s right, we’ve got a full deli counter full of little feral babies (!) and they are terrified. Lettuce, Tomato, and Vidalia are being socialized in a foster home while the rest are receiving the love and care of the Tabby’s Place staff and volunteers to help them realize the joy of human friendship. They’re pretty skittish (maybe they’re afraid of being made into sandwiches!) and there’s a lot of tiny hisses. But like any kittens they love to play, which has been a wonderful icebreaker.

Meanwhile, the Kitten Room has been taken over by tuxedos. Oreo-Colored littermates Kombucha, Kimchi, Kefir, and Miso are still shy but learning to come out of their fermented shells and have been joined by Figaro, who came to us all the way from Puerto Rico ready to party and purr right into everyone’s hearts. His travel mate Belle has already been adopted.

The Kitten Room is also home to Skipper, Melman, Kowalski, and Stockton—as is the fashion of late, they are also very shy. But everyone is getting plenty of playtime and attention and I expect they’ll be finding their courage in their forever homes before very long.Brothers River and Firefly have moved from the Kitten Room to the Tabby’s Place Hospital with a medical conundrum: they eat like champs but aren’t gaining weight as quickly as they should. They are otherwise healthy, and are being observed by the medical staff.

And so many adoptions! August saw the following cats go to their forever homes: Poppy; Raj and Bernadette (together), Penny; Tink; Pierce; Femur and Phalange (together); Fibula; and Sheldon and Amy (together).

As you can see, it’s been a pretty busy month! Thanks to your support Tabby’s Place is able to give all these precious babies a strong start in life and a path to a loving home. Thank you, as always, and enjoy these last weeks of summer!
