Update for Kitten Fund

Hello, Kitten Fund sponsors!

I’m your brand new Kitten Fund correspondent. You may know me from my guest spots on the main Tabby’s Place blog, or we may be meeting for the first time. Either way I am very excited to take over updating you on what’s going on with the youngest residents at Tabby’s Place!

Right now the Kitten Room is still a teenage hangout for older kittens and one adult cat, as we await the expected mass influx of tiny kittens soon. Since the last update Eva, Raven, and Latte have all gone to their forever homes! This leaves elder stateswoman Venga in charge of the boys: Lucas, CornPop, Noodle , and new arrival Tiger.

When you first enter the room you might not see any furry babies at all. But give it a few minutes: curious Tiger will pop up in your face from the highest ledge and getting-there Lucas will come to check you out. Cornpop might examine you from afar with his big eyes, but he’s still a little skittish. And Noodle, with his burst of white below his black face, will warm up quickly if you can get him to accept an opening pet. As for Miss Venga, she’s still happiest tucked under a cubby, but if you approach gently enough she loves having her cheeks and chin scratched.

The wonderful staff and volunteers at Tabby’s Place are still working to socialize our current class of scaredy kittens and they show progress every day. Older kittens can be more difficult to socialize, but the staff and volunteers are up to the task. (Plus, playing with kittens isn’t exactly a terrible day’s work, is it?)

A few rooms down the hall in the dietary special needs suite, Bassoon has charmed her way into being put on hold! It’s easy to picture her making her new family very happy with her friendly and playful personality.

As you know, kitten season is just around the corner. Soon Tabby’s Place will be filled with tiny squeaks and even tinier paws. It can be a challenge to get older kittens adopted when younger kittens are around, so we hope to find forever homes for all of our teenagers before the wave of new tiny fur balls steals the show.

Thank you for supporting the Tabby’s Place Kitten Fund! I look forward to keep you up to date on all the excitement to come!
