The kitten carousel spins madly on this month. As we bid happy farewells to little adoptees Kroger; Sallie and Trevor (together); Luke and Rick (together); Biz; Mischone; Daryl and Herschel (together); Grace; Ram and Ford (together); Kelly; and Pat, we welcomed Hannah, Sara, Johnny, Milo, Tasha, Bob, Rosa, Bridget, Eddie, Susannah, and siblings Judy, Jenna, Parker, Jessy and Mack. There is never a kittenless moment at Tabby’s Place, is there?
We also had a taste of sorrow this month, though, as bottle baby Shelby (sister to Camina, Ram and Ford) passed away. It’s a tearful reminder of the fragility of kittens, and it only makes us more devoted to do everything in our power for the little ones still with us. You can see little Shelby in the photo below, with sister Camina to her left.
Tasha was a different story, though. When I approached her to say hello and put a hand up to her cage door, she ambled over, looked up at me, and raised one paw, gently placing it over one of my fingers. It was a quiet, tender little moment – Tasha is quite a little sweetheart – and it got me thinking.
Kittens have a hard path to follow growing up. They’re amazingly tough, but also so very fragile. If Tasha weren’t here at Tabby’s Place, she probably wouldn’t have the luxury of becoming the sweet little girl that she is, because she would be too busy learning to be tough and strong and to fend for herself. She wouldn’t be able to be herself. Don’t we all wish we had the time and space to just be who we are? For that matter, wouldn’t it be a pretty good life, being someone’s cherished kitty? Tasha has hit the jackpot.
We might not be quite so fortunate as Tasha is, but isn’t it wonderful that we can give her – and our other kittens – such a good growing-up? Your generous support is a big part of making that happen, and just think of all the little angels we’ve helped bring up just this year! Thank you so much for all that you do for the kittens of Tabby’s Place.
