Update for Kitten Fund

Dear Kitten Fund friends,

Kitten season – and kitten lovers – are the gifts that just keep on giving! Since last month’s update, these sweet smidgens have been adopted: Maude, Otto, Janae, Cletus, Jema, Quark, Gregor, Yuri, Polina, Lana, Fred, Artimus, and Pablo.

Fragile Frida remains in foster care, where she’s doing astoundingly well and gaining weight. Her prognosis is not good at all, but it’s amazing what the love of a family can do.

Little Amy has finally moved to Tabby’s Place (from foster care) full time this month. She seems generally “normal” at this point, other than having some trouble keeping her bottom clean. And, of course, “normal” means “exercising the ability to boss around kittens twice her size!” More on that in a bit.

In the meantime, joining Amy in the kitten room are Lepton, Boson, Pasha, Gil, and Golly.

Romy and Michelle are getting some special socialization in our Community Room, and several little loves are joining us from foster care: Piney, Troy (pictured below), Emmitt and Michael.

To complete the (exhaustive) status report: finishing their Quarantine period are Hope, Kona, Oahu, Calista, and Rabia.

One of those newest kittens, Hope, was found by the roadside, suffering from facial trauma. She’d almost certainly been struck by a car, and spent some time at the emergency vet. She’s made a very nice recovery and now seems neurologically normal, but her skull and forehead have a somewhat abnormal shape. We will continue to evaluate her as she develops.

I had the pleasure of spending time with some of our little ones just the other day. First, I met Romy (pictured above), who is slowly but surely learning to trust us. When I offered her my fingers to sniff, she inspected them very carefully. She wasn’t quite willing to let me pet her head or body, but she did tolerate (and observe closely) some strokes on her front paws. I envision some serious cuddles from this girl before too long.

Amy, on the other hand, was busy terrorizing the other kittens in the kitten room. I should not have been surprised at her spunk, given the chase she led Vance on last month, but it was pretty funny to watch. The other kittens tower over little Amy, but with the mood she was in, they couldn’t blink without her pouncing on them! Poor Pasha had to take refuge on the window seat, out of Amy’s reach, while Piney, still new to the room, was glad of a crate to tuck into. Amy may be small, but she sure has an outsize personality!

As always, dear sponsors, thank you so very much for your support of all of our little ones, whether they’re playing “Invisible Cat” or “Destructo Cat.” They’re all so adorable no matter what, aren’t they?
