The kittens keep coming — and going. Since last month’s update, we’ve witnessed the adoptions of Lumiere, Mulan, Gaston, Chip, Peter,
Our newest arrivals are The Artists (Frida,
Picasso); the Sons/Daughters of Anarchy (Jema,
Opie,
Jax,
Chibs); the Particles (Lepton,
Yuri,
Pasha, and Polina); and solo sweetie Amy. All these cuties are in foster care at the moment (as is little Artemus), which means our kitten room was for a time host to only Sherlock and Tyrion. And then they were adopted, too!
Considering just how many kittens we’ve already had at Tabby’s Place this kitten season, it’s remarkable that so many of them have been “issue-less” (that is, if you consider being born to a feral mama and captured early in life “issue-less”!) The vast majority of our kittens this year have already moved on to their forever homes, with nary a hitch in their step as they went.
Two things to say about that…
First, some of our little ones have been hitting bumpy patches of late. Little Amy has some possibly grave physical issues, and in addition to being fostered by our vet tech Denise, she’s already had to visit specialists in the quest to diagnose her ailments. I’ll be sure to fill you in when I know more about this sweet little girl’s health.
Secondly, perhaps the greatest story line in this year’s kitten season is the hugely awesome way that our volunteers have stepped up to foster these fuzzy babies. Feral mamas aren’t necessarily the best role models when it comes to having well-socialized kittens, and the love, time, and effort that our many foster families have devoted to the youngsters have helped them find their forever families that much more quickly. It’s pretty amazing when you consider just how much fostering is going on this year – just look again at the rundown for this month. Four litters in foster care? What a fantastic network of kitten support we’ve got going (again, thanks in no small way to your support!)
Sometimes there’s a lull in kitten season before a second rush in late summer. Apparently, we’re skipping the lull this year, but as you well know, sponsors, we figure that’s what we’re here for. Kittens come and kittens go, whether to foster care or to their forever homes, and in between, we relish the time and love we get to share with them. Thank you so much for all you do in helping our littlest cats find their ways home!
