Update for June

June’s Journal
Entry #2

Happy July, dear sponsors and cat lovers..welcome to my journal…

It has been a hectic month at Tabby’s and a bittersweet time for me. We had the kitten shower with lots of babies for adoption and lots of people coming for tours and to visit, and this was a bittersweet event for me. You see, I had a litter of kittens when I was hit by that nasty car and left for dead. I was rescued, but my kittens were never found. So when I heard about the kitten shower, I was happy that babies were being taken care of and would surely find special forever homes. I know you all think I could possibly not remember my kittens, but I do and I think of them sometimes. I can only hope someone like my rescuer found them and saved them.

But now, the sweet side of the month…I had my annual physical exam and passed with flying colors! I also had some vaccines to keep me healthy. While I am not big on needles, I took them like a trooper as I know they will keep me from getting some very nasty kitty diseases. My weight is good, my teeth are good, my bladder is good….life is good at Tabby’s.

And guess what, I have a new roomie just like me! I was introduced to Pixie, a really pretty orange girl who is paralyzed. We should be BFFs, but right now I am too busy keeping the community room safe and Pixie likes going outside – with supervision, of course. So maybe when fall comes and the weather changes, we can kind of spend time together and I can show her the ropes. If I ever get adopted, Pixie will have to take over my supervisory duties and keep those boys in line in our room.

Another really good thing that happened to me was my mini spa day. I know you are thinking mani and pedi and bath…not so…I get my mani and pedi from the staff on a regular basis. But this was a real treat. The lady who is my scribe came to visit me and sat with me and talked with me like always. But when I was in the cat tree, on the bottom level with my back to her, she started to rub my back up and down and told me it was a massage. Boy, did I ever like that. We stayed there together for about 10 minutes while she rubbed my back and sides very gently and kind of calmed me down a lot. I think I would like another massage. So if anyone comes to visit me and I am not busy, let’s try that rub down as it made me feel really good and relaxed.

Another good thing that happened to me was that I had a lot of visitors on the day of the kitten shower. I did not want to take any time away from the kittens, but I did have some visitors. Maybe someone will come back for me one day like they did for the kittens.

So, to everyone who is reading my journal, I hope you had a happy 4th of July and that you and your two- and four-legged family members are all safe and sound. Come visit me in the community room at Tabby’s if you can and I will turn my back and wait for that massage. And thank you for being my sponsor and helping me each month to be happy and healthy here at the sanctuary.

Purrs and kitty kisses to all.

Love, June
