Dearest Sponsors,
WOW, WOW, WOW!
That is the only word I can use to describe the Grand Opening of Quinn’s Corner and 20th Anniversary of Tabby’s Place, which we celebrated on October 7. As my faithful, generous sponsors, you were part of this momentous day, and I can’t thank you enough for making it all possible!
My correspondent has been helping to plan this event since June. She’s told me all about it, step by step! The best part for me was that we got to spend more time together, as all the prep and hubbub brought her to Tabby’s Place even more often than usual.
The Grand Opening was a labor of love. I helped my correspondent with her task of procuring food and beverage donations for the event. We ultimately received donations from 25 businesses from all over the country. Through my suite window, I watched box after box arrive.
Most of those human treats were on the sweeter side, but there was a cheese donation that I had my eyes on. The cutest items were sugar cookies hand decorated with cat faces. My correspondent showed me a cookie that looked like me, and she could not bring herself to eat it!
A vast brigade of Tabby’s Place volunteers, of all ages, helped work the event. They were all given BRIGHT green volunteer event T-shirts, which could have been spotted from the moon!
The Tabby’s Place Board gave Jonathan, our Founder and Executive Director, a special portrait of Tabby – the amazing cat who inspired him to create Tabby’s Place. The portrait will hang proudly in the lobby for all to see.
Visitors enjoyed self-guided tours, following paw prints throughout the original building and Quinn’s Corner. Volunteers were stationed throughout the tour to answer questions.
My correspondent brought her husband in to meet me (he’s previously only met me in photos and videos). He could not believe how beautiful I am in person. I blushed!
There was face painting for the kids. Since my correspondent is a big kid, she had the artist Sky paint a portrait of Rose on her cheek. It looked so real that she cried!
If you go to the Tabby’s Place Facebook page, you can check out the videos recorded live at the event!
But as exciting as it was to welcome 400+ visitors, I must admit I’m a fan of our sweet normal routine. And “normal” life is going great for me, thanks to you!
Lucy, Lost, Xena and I are getting better accustomed to our new suite. Our newest roomies, Jerome and Flower, are delights. Flower (pictured at right) is a black and white “chonky” girl who is filled with affection. When the kittens find homes, we will likely return to our former suite. I enjoy that calm atmosphere, with a bench where the “Paws to Read” kids have a place to sit.
Fall seems to bring more visitors, which means I get to meet lots of new friends. Whenever she gives a tour, my correspondent brings folks to meet me. It feels so great to have people pet me and say nice things about me. I am from the modest camp.
The only thing missing from my life these days are my hypoallergenic treats. These prescription treats are on forever back order. Since I have food allergies, I cannot eat any other treats. But, my correspondent is taking her kitty Molly (a Tabby’s Place alumnus) to her annual vet visit next week, and she promised to check if the vet has any hypo treats in stock. Please cross your paws for me!
Of course, having you as my sponsor is really the best treat in the world!
My most recent health report is short and sweet, as I like it! A new daily medication is helping with my intermittent vomiting. The vet team was able to decrease my steroid dose, and my blood work looks great!
I hope that your Halloween is filled with sweet treats, and my Halloween is filled with hypoallergenic treats!
Sending you bunches of Josie kisses, filled with love, sunshine, and pumpkin spice! Thank you for your wonderful generosity to me.
Love,
Josie (with help from her correspondent, Ilene)
