Update for Jackie

Update for Jackie

Hello again, dear sponsors!

As you know, it has been a very rough month for Jackie. It has also been a rough month for Tabby’s Place in general. We started the week of July 23rd with Jackie and fellow Special Needs kitty Rose having health issues simultaneously, both at the emergency vet hospital together, both coming home to Tabby’s Place together. This is when you received your Special Update. Jackie improved, but Rose ended up back at the hospital.

In a surprise twist at the end of that week, feisty FIV+ boy McNulty (who had been one of my favorite FIV boys) crossed the Rainbow Bridge. We were all devastated. This was all just too much. Surely, there couldn’t be any more bad news.

Then we got the call on August 1st that little 5-year old Rose had an inoperable spinal tumor. We would take it day-by-day with her. Many tears were shed, but we persevered. We had to be strong for both Rose and Jackie. These ladies needed us more than ever. Rose is improving and gaining strength as she fights the inner ear infection that had spread to her brain. Keep the positive thoughts coming for her.

On my visits with Jackie, she has been slowly getting back to the feisty gal we love. Some days, she seems more tired than others.

You will recall in last month’s update I introduced Jackie’s new roommate Shifty. Well, Shifty has become very comfortable in the Lounge!

At first, he was rather shy and had a hard time coming out of his shell. That surely has changed!! He’s the handsome grey striped boy who is stealing Jackie’s food in the picture. The old Jackie would have annihilated him! The current Jackie, who isn’t feeling so well, let Shifty share her food. I like to think she at least gave him a little smack, however I did not witness the event.

Jackie continues to improve a little each day. We continue to shower her with love. We are very careful not to shower her with too much love, just in case she feels well that day and we get a hiss and smack! Although, I would be happy to take that from Jackie at this point!

As always, thank you for sponsoring our beautiful Jackie!
