Hips’ Happenings #8

Happy August, Dear Sponsors, and Tabby’s Place Fans!

Time flies!! Welcome to my latest happenings… and I have a TON to share with you.

I beat Prescott to the QC door!

First off: one of my BFF’s, Miss Prescott, has now become a cover girl—for the Linda Fund Matching Challenge, which you can read all about here.  I am so happy for her that she can tell people all about Tabby’s Place and be one of our representatives. The Linda Fund helps a lot of kitties and is the reason Prescott could get the intense care she needed to become the happiest of kitties after some awful injuries.

Miss Prescott and I are sort of dating! We love to chase each other around the lobby, especially along the wide open space outside the Executive Director’s office and the doors that lead to Quinn’s Corner!  There are no prizes for who wins, but whoever wins gets bragging rights!

I—NOT a cover boy, though I have the looks for it (maybe not the body!)—just continue to be my “normal” inquisitive self and spend my days exploring and investigating and supervising the volunteers—LOL!

Speaking of being inquisitive and exploring, one of the volunteers brought in this video game called Jitterbug.  I am not usually a fan of bugs because if I see one I try to eat it.  But this “bug” was really different.  It just caught my attention and I spent a long time watching it.  In fact, I just ignored Prescott and devoted all my time to this very pretty red ladybug.  I tried my best to catch it, but I failed.  Hmmmm… I think the hoomans are playing a trick on me with this bug.  But if it comes back, I will once again try to capture it and eat it up!

Catchin’ a ride on the cart volunteers use to bring our blankets and litter pans!

Then, I saw an open door and you know how we kitties like to explore.  Well, I am probably the best explorer here at Tabby’s Place. We had some issues with the air conditioning last month.  So the door from the hallway where the medical office is to the lobby was open for some airflow.  And there was a gate to keep us all separated.  But being my best nosy self, I just had to jump that gate and explore.  The staff and volunteers found me in the taboo territory and brought me back to the lobby.  But, guess what?  Yep, you guessed it—I jumped it again and once again they brought me back.  Our receptionist, Sharon, said that if I was human, I be an engineer because I’m so good at analyzing the edges and angles of anything new, like the gate in the lobby. Wheels just start turning my little head as I sum up how I will be able to jump it (so far, I’m 100% accurate)!

When they brought me back into the lobby the last time, I just decided to be my usual self and monitor the volunteers to be sure our blankies were clean and that our lobby was swept and mopped.

Of course, being my resourceful and tenacious self, especially when it comes to food, I have to figure out new ways to get extra food.  One day I figured out a way to get my paws into the food dish in a crate that was shut tight! I grabbed one kibble at a time to munch on and even shared some with Boobalah.

I’m making sure the volunteers give us fluffy blankets!

While I have been in very good spirits this month—and what kitty wouldn’t be here at Tabby’s Place and with all of the events and things to explore?— I did have a bout with coughing.  I have to get my bladder and colon expressed, and after this was done one day, I just started coughing.  But it did pass and I am being closely monitored by the vet staff and everyone! Hah! They can watch me all they want, but I, being Hips, will still give the staff and volunteers a run for their money.  Don’t worry, I am just fine.

People have been saying I’m pretty much a party in a box🎉!  I would have to agree! So please come to visit me and see what the party is like with me front and center! We all love to see people and get lots of pets and loves and oohs and aahs.  Rest assured that I am on lobby patrol with my friends Prescott and Olive at all times (except when I’m napping).

Resting from my patrol duties!

Have a wonderful month and thank you for being such a loyal sponsor for me.

Love to all,
Hips
