Hips’ Happenings #1

Good morning, Dear Sponsors and Tabby’s Place Fans!

Welcome to the very first installment of my monthly newsletter, “Hips’ Happenings.”  It is all about the lobby and all the events going on there.

As you all know, I have no tail and walk a little funny from trauma in my early years.  As a result, I have to be on a special high-fiber diet.  I used to sneak around and steal any food left from the other kitties and from the grazing bowl.  But the staff got wise to my antics and took all of that away.  So, to compensate, I have officially made myself the Social Director and Exercise Instructor of the lobby.  My girl and sidekick, Olive, who always stations herself at the door, is my security guard.

My Security Guard, Olive

A while back, I got into some trouble with Anka, who loves people but hates other cats.  So now that he is moving to another location in the sanctuary, I am the king of the lobby.

I have to be a better kitty to all my charges.  One little girl, Nina, had a head trauma and she makes excitement circles.  I didn’t know what to do, so I swatted her.  That didn’t help at all.  So when you come to visit and see Nina making those circles, just keep an eye on me so I don’t swat her.  I am really a very good boy…

Being a Social and Exercise director is keeping me busy…I have to check out all the toys to be sure they are worthy of the cats.  So one day a few weeks ago, Mary Anne, the lady who used to help Elliot write his episodes, came to visit me.  She is going to help me write my Happenings, which is great news!

Well, I had a lot of visitors that day.  Larry sat in the lounge with Mary Anne while Isabel and I played with the wand toy.  I had a great time with that!  When they first came in, I was asleep in the cat tree, which is a great spot for me to see the entire lobby and all the suites.  But I woke up pretty fast when that wand came my way.  Isabel gave it to Mary Anne and I jumped out of the cat tree and tried to catch the feathers on the end.  After a long time of that, Mary Anne moved over to the little sofa and I jumped on it to sit with her for a little bit.  I tried to eat her pen, but she wasn’t having it.   But I did get a lot of pets and backrubs, and I loved them. Then I took a bath and a potty break and headed back to my cat tree.  That was enough exercise for me for the day.

Me and my skinny (bony) friend!

Last October, this really skinny guy came to the sanctuary for a visit.  He was nothing but bones.  I tried to share some of my food with him, but he just sat there and didn’t much care about the food.  Maybe he will come back again next October…something about a holiday called Halloween…LOL….

So, dear sponsors, I would love for you all to visit me here at Tabby’s Place.  We can play and I can get in my “kittysizes” for the day.  After all, if I am going to be the Social and Exercise director, I have to be on my best game.  Be safe and well and warm, because I certainly am!

Love to all,
Hips
