Update for Faye

Happy November, Friends of Faye!

Author Charles Dickens once wrote, “Reflect on your present blessings, of which every man has plenty; not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some.”

As we snuggle into a suddenly brisk November in anticipation of the upcoming holiday season, Faye remembers Dickens’ advice and reflects on all of her present blessings. In this spirit of thanksgiving, she would like to share her list of things for which she is most grateful this year.

  1. Faye is grateful for compassion. As many of you know, the story of Faye’s arrival at Tabby’s Place is a complicated, winding narrative that includes several displacements and adjustments. However, it was through a tremendous act of love that Faye was able to come to us, and she remembers all those who helped her find her way with love and gratitude.
  2. Faye is grateful for her health. For the first time in fourteen years, Tabby’s Place—like a larger number of shelter/rescue organizations throughout the country—is currently dealing with a ringworm situation. As such, we have implemented a series of special ringworm protocols for the building. Cats who are immune-compromised—like Faye—are particularly susceptible to ringworm, so we have added an anti-fungal medication to her daily medications. Fortunately, Faye has shown no signs of ringworm, but she does seem to have developed a fairly significant upper-respiratory infection, so she has also been started on an oral antibiotic medication. We are already seeing improvement in the brief time she has been treated! Additionally, Faye had a complete blood count done this month, and we are happy to report that everything looked good! Faye recognizes that not all kitties are lucky enough to have immediate access to wonderful medical care, and she reflects on her health with appreciation.
  3. Faye is grateful for nature and the time she is able to spend in her solarium. Whether nature greets her with the balmy breeze of summer or the brisk nip of autumn, Faye’s favorite place is outdoors, with the bees buzzing nearby and the sun on her fur. She breathes in the beauty of everything around her.
  4. Faye is thankful for Tabby’s Place. When you are a cat without a forever family, there is no better place for you to be than here with us. We love our cats so much, and we promise them happy, healthy lives, filled with love for as long as they need us. We love Faye beyond measure. Once a Tabby’s Place cat, always a Tabby’s Place cat.
  5. Faye is thankful for the love she sees in the faces of the staff and volunteers who take care of her, visit with her, take her on stroller rides, feed her, and dote on her with yummy treats and soft “princess” beds. And she is grateful for the love she feels from afar, from everyone who follows her journey through these updates and who gives so generously to her care.

Mostly, though, Faye is thankful for you. Thank you for choosing her to be your best-sponsored friend. It is through your love and generosity that she is able to thrive here with us. Faye and I send you all the blessings of Thanksgiving, today and always. We love you so very much!

Happy Thanksgiving, friends! Be well, be safe, and we’ll talk again soon!
