Update for Faye

Happy Valentine’s Day, friends of Faye!

Winter has arrived in all its blustery, snowy glory—a sign from Mother Nature herself that it’s time to lean into a slower, cozier pace. These days find our kitties, Faye included, spending more time indoors—enveloped in their blankets and beds, cuddled alongside their suite-mates, and adopting a gentler mood.

Somehow our cats, even feisty divas like Faye, seem to know when it’s time to lean into a group snuggle. This month, for example, Faye has spent most of her time indoors, as it is quite cold in the solariums. Even suite-mate and fellow sun-worshipper, Merriweather, has moved indoors. While it makes for quite a crowded upper ramp, most of the kitties in the “ramp crew” have a good relationship with one another (see photo).

During this seasonal indoor respite, Faye finds herself with some time for reflection. And this year, she’s been thinking a great deal about love in all its forms. At Tabby’s Place, our kitties are our forever valentines. Every single cat has its paw prints all over the heart of at least one staff member or volunteer. And Faye, as our princess-in-residence, is adored by many. From one-on-one time with volunteers to stroller rides to yummy snacks to donated blankets, love permeates every nook and cranny of our sanctuary and encircles each kitty.

Our love language is also spoken through individualized medical care for each of our sweet ones, and at times, that means rejoicing over unconventional things like the fact that Faye’s stool has improved this month, so we were able to decrease her medications for that. However, there was some increased vomiting in Suite B, and we were a bit suspicious that this might be coming from Faye, so she was put back on medication for nausea. This is no cause for alarm, though, as it is a common side effect of her chemotherapy drug.

Faye sends you candy hearts and paper flowers, dear friends. And this month especially, she sends you a heart filled with gratitude and love. May the love in your life be abundant, may you be seen for all the good that you do, and may your chilly February be filled with the warmth of kindness. We love you, Valentines, and we’ll talk again soon . . .
