Update for Faye

Update for Faye

Happy August, friends of Faye!

I’d like to begin this month’s update by welcoming some new (human) friends to Faye’s circle. Sadly, our Tabby’s Place family lost one of our beloved kitties this past month. Our sweet boy, McNulty, passed away after a long struggle with kidney disease. His loving sponsors will be joining us here in the wonderful world of Faye. And Faye (and I) are so happy to have you!

And now, onto our update. As you know, our glamour girl has always prided herself on a healthy dose of attitude, but Faye and all of her roomies seem to have met their match this month. There’s been a large addition (literally) of drama to Suite C with the arrival of Hemingway — the cat, not the author.

To be fair, though, there are some hard-to-miss similarities. Ernest Hemingway was known for a few things: his beautiful prose, his drinking, and his love of six-toed cats. I highly suspect that his namesake follows closely with two out of three. And he does not have six toes. Just sayin!

At times, the big white boy’s bravado (read: straight-out bullying) have made it impossible to leave the Suite C residents unsupervised, as fights break out the moment we exit. Faye is doing her best to steer clear of the naughty newcomer. We’re considering behavior medication, working with our volunteer behavioral consultant, and keeping Hemingway crated during morning cleaning (when he’s most likely to become agitated). Hopefully this wild child’s handsomeness will get him adopted sooner rather than later! In the meantime, though, if it ever comes down to a clash of the big white cats, I’d like it noted that my money’s on Faye.

Beyond the comic relief, Faye has had a wonderful month, as a grand finale to a lovely summer. She’s been spending her days lounging in the solarium, enjoying the summer sunshine. She hopes you, too, are lavishing the last of this year’s summer nights. She thanks you for being her friend and for sharing in her journey. And if you are one of her new friends, she loves you already!

We’ll talk again soon, friends.
