Update for Faye

Update for Faye

Happy February!

Calling all Valentines! Faye is one of our newly-sponsorable cats, and as a result, she has a lower number of sponsors that many of our other cats, so if you are seeing this update, you are one of Faye’s very first friends.

Since this is sort-of True Love’s signature month, the timing of a new relationship between you and Faye is particularly serendipitous! If you haven’t met Faye in person yet, and if you are new to receiving updates about all-things-Faye, then it’s important that you know that Faye is a very special cat. She’s an honest-to-goodness princess and a true believer in fairy tales and happily ever afters.

When I visited Faye this past month, she spent the majority of our visit perched high up on a kitty-ramp in her suite. It turns out that her ears were bothering her, causing some unpleasant itchiness and icky discharge. Although she is being treated with antibiotic ointment twice each day, on that particular day, we spent our visit with me sitting on the floor, talking up at her, because she was feeling a little out-of-sorts. I’m sure we can all relate.

It got me thinking of a song my mother used to play for me around Valentine’s Day. I was obsessed with Raggedy Ann and Andy when I was a little girl, so you can imagine my delight when I was gifted with a recording of one of Raggedy Ann’s adventures. There was a song on the album that resonates with me each year as Valentine’s Day approaches, and since Faye wasn’t feeling well, I decided to try singing it to her…

Candy hearts and paper flowers

Sunshine days and skies of blue

Rhymes and songs we sing forever

Words to say I love you true

Times get bad and then I worry

How we’ll ever see it through

But candy hearts and paper flowers

Will always keep me close to you

The picture I’m sharing with you this month is what Faye’s beautiful face looked like as I was singing to her.

Faye and I welcome you into her life! We’re so happy to meet you and to count you among our bestest friends. Thank you for being Faye’s Valentine, and for your generous help in providing for her care. We wish you candy hearts and paper flowers today and always. Happy Valentine’s Day!
