Happy 2017 to you, and to all Buddy’s buddies!
You know how the joke gets set up: “I’ve got good news and bad news for you…” Well, there’s no joke, just some black-and-white-and-read-all-over news about our active little Buddy.
The good news is that Buddy is feeling fine, fit as a fiddle. And there’s more good news in that a new lady cat moved into Suite FIV during the past month. Giselle is what some call a cow-cat, because her random black-and-white patches resemble those on a Holstein cow. Giselle is cute, and she loves attention, as I learned. I made her acquaintance recently and both of us enjoyed it, as she leaned in to my hands while they stroked her soft fur.
Now, the other side of the news is that some cat (probably Giselle, they think) has roundworms, so all the cats in the suite are receiving treatment to be on the safe side.
But wait, there’s more news. The thing is, Giselle has a bit of an attitude, I’m told, and Buddy — otherwise a cordial cat — ends up giving the cow-cat a wide berth when she’s in one of her moods. (And that goes double for suitemate Lester, who is usually the strong silent type, but he makes it clear that this…this FEMALE gets on all his nerves.)
The last time I visited Tabby’s Place, Giselle was inside, settled in on a piece of cat furniture with a good view of the lobby. Buddy mostly stayed outside in the solarium, which may or may not be an indicator of their relationship. Still, he did make his way through the tube connecting solarium and suite during my visit, so I was able to give him some attention and take pictures in both rooms.
And this just in, one last item. On New Year’s Eve, Giselle won the heart of an Awesome Adopter, and went to live in her new Forever Home. Lester, Buddy, and the rest of the guys aren’t the types to make a big show of a celebration, but I just bet that after the lights were out and all the humans gone for the day, they gave each other a knowing look and a collective sigh of relief that the mercurial little cow-cat has moved on.
Cats are like humans, I suppose. Some make others happy wherever they go, and some make others happy whenever they go. But no matter how long a cat lives under its roof, once a Tabby’s Place cat, always a Tabby’s Place cat. Thank you from me and everyone at Tabby’s Place for your generous support of them and their mission to save cats from hopeless situations.
