Update for Bellis

Update for Bellis

Hello, Sponsors of Beautiful Bellis!

My name is Kim, and I am delighted to “cover” for dear Bellis this month! Bellis misses her friend and regular correspondent Kathryn, and looks forward to seeing her again next month!

I have been a correspondent for the wonderful cats of Tabby’s Place for quite some time, and also write “The Weekly Update” to our volunteers, to keep them informed as to the “cat happenings” at the sanctuary. Bellis is a very popular young lady with our volunteers! It is difficult to pick and choose each week which cats to highlight for our volunteers; space limits my coverage of our 100 cats. However, rest assured that this is ONE cat that must be mentioned regularly, or I would be receiving many an email asking why not!

We here at Tabby’s Place have been keeping a close watch on a lesion on Bellis’ leg. To assist with healing, Bellis had been receiving steroid medications. As healing seemed to be taking a tad longer than what it should, Bellis received an injection of a fast-acting steroid. I am happy to report that this injection helped the lesion to clear up completely! She is feeling better; those playful paws of hers batting at our legs as we walk in her direction are good indicators!

It seems this month that “love is in the air” at Tabby’s Place, as new special friendships seem to be developing between a few of our feline residents! Volunteers have been chatting about duos Desi and Mrs. Jinx in cheerful Suite C, and Peachy and Webster in the sunny Community Room! Enter Bellis and her friend (new beau?) Boots (see photo for your consideration of this matter!).

Boots is usually not so social with other cats, preferring human friends to felines. However, he does seem to like our girl Bellis, and she likes him, but then again, Bellis likes everybody! Isn’t she the friendliest little darling you have ever met? If you have not had the pleasure, you should really take a summer day’s drive to Tabby’s Place, and meet her!

I know should not really disclose this “secret,” but as honorary writer for our friend Bellis, I feel I must confess that she is one of my favorites here at the sanctuary. Upon first meeting Bellis, I was struck by her kindness, optimism, and determination to live a normal, happy, and healthy life, in spite of the many obtacles that have been in her way. At the shelter where we found her, life could have had the saddest of endings. Instead, Bellis was blessed with a special chance at a new life, one filled with love, medical attention, and care.

It was once said that:

“Friends are angels who lift us to our feet, when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly…”

Bellis thanks you, dearest sponsors, for being her “Special Angels.”
