Update for Bellis

Update for Bellis

Greetings to Bellis’ supporters,

I have the most wonderful news to share about Bellis: she has continued her perfect bathroom behavior!

This indicates that her final spay cleared up that “inappropriate elimination” issue once and for all. This clears a major hurdle between Bellis and her future family, since inappropriate elimination can send even the most open minded adopters running. But, as you can see in my photos this month, Bellis isn’t worried about a thing.

On my last visit to see our beautiful, delicate girl, I had the pleasure to meet Larry, a legendary volunteer at Tabby’s Place. Larry is seen here with Max and Bellis, doing what the cats love most.

I had the opportunity to learn a lot about Larry while we sat and pet our feline friends. I learned he is a retired police officer, and he doesn’t only volunteer at Tabby’s Place, he also gives his time and efforts to other needy causes in our community. His stories were fascinating; Larry tells a great story that keeps you interested and involved. I learned I could sit and listen to Larry all day long.

I also learned another valuable lesson as I sat with Larry. Volunteers come from everywhere, and there is no “typical” volunteer at Tabby’s Place. Larry and I are probably as opposite two people as you could find, but, at heart we are exactly the same.

I love to learn life lessons like this in unexpected ways. If Larry and I met somewhere else, I don’t think either of us would have a clue we have so much in common, or rather, that we have one very huge important part of ourselves that is the same.

We have more news of the social variety this month, and it’s about Bellis this time. With her old nemesis Midnight happily adopted (together with his best friend Pirate ), things are much more peaceful in Bellis’ world. They’ve also gotten a bit more…interesting. Bellis and Trey are now living in Adoption Room #2 with ultra-timid Cypress and wacky, wonderful Max . So far, so good; Cypress is quite gentle around other cats, and Max has been just fine with his new roomies (although he does stay in the apartment by himself overnight, just in case).

Happy Holidays, wonderful sponsors. Thank you so much for your generosity, which makes all of this possible. I look forward to more wonderful reports in the New Year. Hopefully, the best news of all will come in 2010 and Bellis will find her forever home.
