Update for Bailey

Bailey seems to have settled into a more mellow life in the FIV+ suite. Arlo, a “bully” in the suite, had to be crated and put on anti-aggression medication because of his relentless ambushing of shy little Lucky. After three weeks of living in a large crate (to give the medication time to take effect), Arlo was released and no longer attacked Lucky! (Applause here!) Even better – Arlo ended up being adopted shortly afterwards by the daughter of a volunteer. The staff and volunteers are still cheering!

Even with Arlo gone from the suite, Bailey is still not top cat. Iggy has taken over that slot, and Bailey seems happier not having to defend his position any more. He relaxes a lot more these days, and his health seems stable.

Bailey still loves to play, though, when Iggy will allow it! Like all cats in the suite, Bailey adores playing with string toys. But his favorite is still shoelaces. He’s become very skillful at untying them whether or not you want them untied!

Bailey is not a cuddly mush, but he does enjoy getting scratches behind the ears and around his head. He doesn’t even mind being held while you do this, but he is not a lap cat. And he is not a fan of being stroked along his body. If you dare stroke him, Bailey is likely to swat at you with his enormous claws. He doesn’t connect; it’s just a warning swat. However, all I needed was one warning! I can’t imagine having to medicate him. He’s very strong and has a mind of his own. I don’t know how the staff does it!

Since he’s no lap cat, and is FIV+ as well, Bailey is not as likely to be adopted as many other cats at Tabby’s Place. We all appreciate your ongoing support of Bailey, and the other lucky Special Needs Cats at Tabby’s Place.

A big ’Thank you’ once again!
