Update for Bagheera

Update for Bagheera

Greetings, Bagheera supporters!

Bagheera has gained some weight, so we’re switching him to a high-protein prescription diet. This diet should fill him up more quickly and encourage him to eat less (uh-huh). We’ll be giving him canned food in place of one dry food feeding, since canned food has fewer calories. This regimen is something like the feline version of the “Atkins diet.” Tabby’s Place’s vet notes that cats are complete carnivores, and generally do best on a high-protein, low-fiber diet.

One day as Bagheera was scooting about the lobby, he met a new lobby mate named Zippy. Bags thought, “How wonderful that she brought some food for me!” (See picture, in which he’s blocking the food dish). They went nose to nose, and nothing special happened at first. Then Zippy hissed a little as if to say, “That’s enough sniffing – I don’t know you very well.”

Zippy is a very lovely, shy cat and has a purr to die for; she loves to sit on your lap. Can you guess I love Zippy? (Of course, she’ll always be second to Bagheera!)

The weather has been very humid and hot here, and Bagheera has not wanted to stay outside for any length of time. I usually let him decide where he wants to go and how long he wants to stay out. He was sniffing the bushes while walking along the sidewalk, so I went to sit on the step. He came my way, as he often does, but this time he walked right up to me and put his front legs on my lap. There he stayed for about 20 minutes! I guess I supplied some shade and a comfy place to rest.

Happy summer to all of Bagheera’s friends!!
