Update for Bagheera

Greetings to Bags’ buddies,

Bagheera is having a lovely, mellow month. He recently showed us his tender side: Kirsten (TP’s Development Director) brought Samara, a tiny kitten, into the community room, where Bags was lounging in his wheelbarrow. Curious to see how adult cats would react to the kitten, Kirsten brought Samara around to see Sammie, Franny and Hillary – and each one hissed at the baby.

But Bags was different – when Samara was put near his face, he immediately began to groom her! Now, this may have had a little something to do with the fact that Samara had some wet food on her face, but we like to think that Bagheera was just showing his sweet, “Papa Bags” side.

Bagheera and I still go outside whenever we can for our walks, and he so enjoys when people pull up and come to pet him. The other day after we went inside, he continued to walk around the lobby and down the hall to the community room. He usually wants out of his cart and into a nice soft cushy basket for his afternoon siesta, but this time he seemed interested in walking into the community room.

I opened the door and he went in. I watched carefully because some of the cats in that room aren’t very social. I’m not sure if it was because they were surprised by his cart, but everyone was very polite and let Bagheera walk all around without incident.

After a while I put Bags in his garden cart, and after “making some biscuits” he fell fast asleep. I thought this would be a good time to have a snack. It didn’t take but a couple of seconds for him to wake up and meow for something!

I figured a piece of carrot wasn’t something a cat would like, so I put it near him. As you can see he went for it! I couldn’t believe my eyes; he was licking and biting on it! We all laughed. Bagheera is, as you know, on a strict diet, so I had to make sure he didn’t get anything but a few licks.

PURR PURR for now-
