Update for Amber

Update for Amber

Another month, another story. Our girl Amber is never dull, that’s for sure! This July, we have good news and bad news about Amber.

Let’s start with the good! Medically, Amber seems to be doing very well. Her eyes remain in good condition! The anti-hypertension medicine has done her a world of good. Currently, she exhibits no other signs of any ill health. The vets at Tabby’s Place will continue to monitor her and test her, to keep on top of her kidney disease and heart condition.

Now, on to the bad news. Well, Amber’s mean streak is still shining through. I heard through the grapevine that she went through another bout of being in heat since my last update, but unfortunately I did not get to see her in that time frame. Last week when I saw Amber, she was sitting pretty on one of the cubicles in her suite. I sat down next to her, and talked gently to her for a few minutes. Then, I went out on a limb and gave her a few small pets on her head. She allowed it! I gave her a few more, and she still tolerated me! However, after about 30 seconds of petting, she had enough. I got a hearty HISS and a swat. However, Amber did not even break any skin with her swat at me. I know that she could have scratched me if she so chose, so I like to believe that she purposely did not hurt me. So, there is a silver lining to this cloud!

Although Amber doesn’t care for the human touch, it’s still important that we provide her with the loving care she deserves. As always, thank you kindly for your support of Amber.
