Greetings, FeLVie Fans!
It’s time for another update on our stupendous crew!
Abacus has somehow become sneakier, a feat we didn’t know was possible. On the days when he and Trifecta (shown in the banner this month) were to have access to the Quinn’s Corner lobby, he was escaping into the lobby before it was set up for him.
This was a big problem for us. You’ll remember how much trouble Abacus had with urinary blockages when he first came to us, and we cannot take any chances that he’ll get into food he shouldn’t have, as it might cause trouble in his delicate urinary tract. So, to his great annoyance, our boy is now being crated during morning cleanings. Abacus and Trifecta continue to co-exist peacefully, which makes us very happy, and the boys are united in having their eyes glued to our kitchen, just off the Quinn’s Corner lobby, whenever mealtime is approaching.
But Abacus is not the only sneaky feline in our FeLV+ crew. We think that Oram was missing his friends in his suite. He was spotted several times looking longingly at the cats in the solarium of the suite next to his, which is Suite H (it’s easy to do that from the solarium in Oram’s suite, which is Suite G).

Then, one evening, the staff doing medical rounds couldn’t find Oram. When they went searching, they found him—in the solarium in Suite H! We still have no idea how he got there.
In an effort to provide Oram with another companion, we have introduced Regina to Suite G; doing so will additionally give her more room to scoot around. When I saw her in Suite G, she had only been introduced there within the past couple of days, but she was lounging on a cushion as though she had always lived there.
There’s good news about Sweetie this month. He’s coming out of his cubbyhole more frequently, and, when it’s very quiet in the building, he’ll interact with Oram.

I’ve discovered that Puff becomes almost as hysterical as Abacus when food is approaching. She’ll scrabble at the glass walls of her suite with her front paws and cry pitifully, and there are times I think she’s trying to break the land speed record for chowing down on wet food.
Hoopla Green continues to use the solarium as her preferred quarters, but of course, if it gets too cold or stormy we’ll bring her in, and she has a large heated mat as well as some enclosed spaces if she gets chilly in nice weather.
Little Batty has made good progress with us. She’s coming out of her cubbyhole more often and has been seen in the solarium, though she runs back to her safe place if she feels as though she’s being watched. And she’s much more amenable to gentle petting on her head.
I have heard reports that Mr. Man was stealing other felines’ lunches, but I prefer to think those were simply ugly rumors. Our big guy appears too laid back to engage in such a felonious activity. Then again, considering how most cats are where food is concerned, it wouldn’t surprise me if he did.

By the time you read this, Thanksgiving will be just around the corner. Please know how grateful we are for your continuing support of our cast of characters. Truly, we would not be able to provide for them if it wasn’t for your generosity. We know how many demands there are on your pocketbook these days, and we can’t say “thank you” enough.
Just don’t bother to save any gravy or stuffing for Abacus, no matter what he says!
Your correspondent,
Stephanie
