Update for Tux

My best birthday pose.

Dearest Friend of Tux,

It was twenty years ago today…

our beloved friend, Tux was born!

Yes, Tux just celebrated his 20th birthday!

While Sergeant Pepper didn’t bring the band to play in Tux’s honor, such a joyous occasion calls for much celebration. However, when you are the oldest cat in the building, the best celebrations include long uninterrupted cat naps in your favorite bed while sporting one’s most comfortable formalwear.

Tux’s 20th birthday was celebrated in comfort, surrounded by family, with minimal fuss. A perfect event for a distinguished gentleman cat.

I certainly relate. My preferred birthday celebrations include quiet days, surrounded by family, and no alarm clocks.

In addition to being the oldest cat in residence, Tux is one of just five cats that have been continual residents of Tabby’s Place for the last eight or more years.

A perfect celebratory cat nap.

This later milestone holds particular significance to me, as I joined the staff at Tabby’s Place just three months after Tux was welcomed to the Tabby’s Place family. Tux has always been a part of my Tabby’s Place family and experience.

In the spirit of family and togetherness, Tux wanted to share the celebratory spotlight with his fellow long-timers. Each has their own unique special needs, and all are sponsorable cats.

Peace, quite, sunshine.

Olive is paraplegic and lives in the Tabby’s Place Lobby. Pepita is incontinent and lives in one of the Tabby’s Place suites. Bacon has a sleep related seizure disorder and lives in the Medical Office so that he doesn’t have to interact with other cats and can enjoy a quiet environment.

And finally, our longest-term resident, Steven, has lived his entire life at Tabby’s Place. He just got promoted from his Quinn’s Corner suite to the Medical Suite where he will be able to have his diet closely monitored. Steven has enduring GI issues for most of his life and developed heart disease and a host of health issues involving his GI system and heart.

In honor of Tux’s birthday, please join us in raising a squeeze up treat to every member of our amazing family of love.

This monumental occasion would not have been possible for our dear boy without the loving care that you provide every month. Thank you from the bottom of my (and Tux’s) hearts for loving him so much. He’s living out his golden years surrounded by the biggest and best family he could imagine.
