Update for Tux

Ready for an autumn stroll.

Dear Friend of Tux,

As the leaves begin to shift into a rainbow of warm tones in Ringoes, NJ, Tux finds himself focusing on the cozy aspects of transitional seasons.

The flow of life in the Tabby’s Place Community Room is rarely impacted by seasonal change. Without a solarium, beds can’t get wet, water won’t freeze, and strong winds won’t blow your fur out of order.

It’s the perfect time of year to enjoy the crisp air and warm sunshine on a brisk walk to appreciate the autumn foliage, without breaking a sweat.

When we first launched our community outreach programs, like Aged to Purrfection, and then began stroller enrichment at Tabby’s Place, Tux was among the earliest cats to join the programs. He loved the attention, the stimulation, and the human interaction.

But after a few years, Tux no longer took pleasure in having his daily indoor routines interrupted. After all, cat naps are essential to keep the feline mind and body fresh and healthy.

A new bed for a new season.

For this reason, Tux doesn’t typically get to “feel” the seasonal shift the way some other residents get to. Then one particularly lovely afternoon, I was on route to the Community Room when I spotted Tux in a stroller!

I was so excited that I had to take a photo right away. With that special sparkle in his eye, Tux looked downright pleased with his pending adventure.

But do not fear that the Community Room residents don’t get to share in the festivities of seasonal transformation. It is spooky season, and the Halloween decorations abound at Tabby’s Place. Perhaps you are transitioning your own household by digging out your woolen sweaters and adding extra layers of linens to your bed.

Tux very much enjoyed his own take on cozy preparations when a wonderful friend arranged to have a new plush fuzzy bed delivered, just for him! Of course, Tux is happy to share his special spot with friends like Gulliver.

While Tux and I never wish to dwell on less pleasant things, particularly in our monthly correspondence, you are our dear friend and beloved family, so you deserve to be kept up to date.

Cozy incarnate!

Tux has been having more frequent episodes of vomiting, and I do worry about him. We know he has a sensitive GI system, and he is on medications to help with both nausea and reflux. We also know that as we age, nothing works quite the same as it used to work.

Tux’s perspective: embrace and cherish the cozy parts of each and every day.

So next time you reach for a sweater or warm blanket, think of Tux and know that he would want you to settle in and savor the season. Thank you, dear sponsor, for filling each and every day with love and comfort for our elderly gentleman cat!

Lisa
