Hips’ Happenings #17
Good Day, and Happy May to all my Dear Sponsors!
Here I am again with lots of news to share…
Okay, so…I am not sure…just how to tell you this…because I do not want you to be mad at me!
As long as you promise to still love me and be my sponsor, I will tell you what I have been doing lately.
I have been “inappropriately eliminating” in the lobby. Once the staff found out from the volunteers who clean every day, they picked me up and whisked me to the Medical Center at Tabby’s Place, where I had tests done to see if I had some medical issue that needed fixing, such as a UTI (urinary tract infection). But all the tests came back normal, so it was determined that my peeing out of the box was behavioral.

We have two new CH (cerebellar hypoplasia) kitties in the lobby and they wobble around all day; they are really very special. But I just had to mark my territory to be sure they didn’t invade my space. I already have to share it with Grecca!
My friend Mary Anne came to visit me and I was asleep in the receptionist’s chair in the lobby. She picked me up and put me on her lap, but I wasn’t having it.
Naptime is a serious thing for me, so she put me down and started to pet Prescott, the love of my life. I got a bit jealous and chased Prescott out of her bed on the table and took that over for a few minutes. But, I decided to do another one of my behavioral stunts to get attention.

Jonathan, our founder and Executive Director, has an office off the lobby. There is a 4-foot gate in front of the door to separate the lobby cats from the kitties who live in his office. I noticed that they always have kibble and wet food down on the floor for those kitties and also some nice soft beds. So, yep, you guessed it—I climbed over the gate and ran right to the food (which I am not supposed to have because it gives me intestinal issues–the big “D”).
But Mary Anne saw me climb the gate and told one of the volunteers who tried to get me out. By the time the volunteer came, I was making biscuits on one of the soft beds in the corner of the office. And I hissed at her and she got a staff member to come get me out. Gee, can’t a guy have some fun once in a while?!?

On a positive note, I did one of my jobs the other day by helping the Girl Scouts with the food they brought for us. It is in my contract with the sanctuary that I have to help with chores in addition to securing the lobby. So I checked all the goodies out and found them acceptable. And I got a lot of love and pets from the girls. They are welcome any time to bring more food and toys and spend time with me.
Speaking of spending time with me, I would love to have you, dear sponsors, come to visit me. I am always up for a pet or two or three (when I am not napping) and I love to play. You can find me on top of the cat tree (which I call my scenic outlook post) next to the reception desk in the lobby. I can see it all from atop my perch. I am happy, healthy, and loving life here at the sanctuary.
Until next month, be safe and well, and enjoy each minute of each day. Thank you for your love and generosity to me!
Love and purrs,
Hips
