Dear Carrot Friend,
Our favorite orange-and-white boy has been able to enjoy some nice warm days in his solarium. There haven’t been too many really nice days, but there have been a few, and each and every one of those days has been enjoyed by Carrot. As soon as it is warm outside you know where to find Carrot. He will stay outside all day, basking in the warm sun, and making the most of each nice day.
A few other cats in Carrot’s room have also ventured outside, but mostly they don’t believe it’s warm enough just yet. Carrot is usually joined out in the solarium by Oscar, who seems to love it as much as Carrot. Oscar gets cranky and overstimulated when he is inside, with all the cats around him, so I think he enjoys the quiet of being outside. Wilbur has also ventured outside a few times to join his friends, which is also good for Wilbur’s mental health, as he also gets quite cranky if he is inside the suite for too long.
All the cats have been enjoying fairly frequent stroller walks. As soon as we get a nice day, all of our wonderful stroller walking volunteers come to Tabby’s Place and get the cats outside for some fresh air and stimulation. Carrot still loves his stroller walks, and would let the volunteers walk him around all day, as long as they provide him with a snack. Carrot was out for a stroller ride the other day, and as I brought him back to his suite some of his human friends were waiting for him, to play with him and spend time with him. He is a very popular boy with all of our volunteers, and he knows it!
Our senior program, Aged to Purrfection, started again recently. We only have one home we are visiting currently, but we hope to add more soon. We are glad to be able to visit the seniors again, and hopefully, the pandemic won’t stop the program again. Carrot did not get to go this time, as they all have to take turns, and this time it was Tux and Rose’s turn to visit the seniors. Everyone had a wonderful visit.
Our socializing program, Comfort Buddies, is also back also and off to a good re-start. We have quite a few volunteers signed up already for that program, which focuses on spending time with the cats. Carrot and his friends are enjoying the extra attention from this program, and seem to love more people coming to spend time with them. Carrot, of course, is a complete attention hog whenever anyone comes in his room for a visit, and always greets the person before anyone else can.
Carrot and Oscar have had a few minor fights lately. They have not been big fights, but more like disagreements. Oscar can be cranky, and Carrot doesn’t back down, so they butt heads sometimes. Other times they are very happy to hang out in the solarium together and have no issues at all.
Carrot is being better again for his bladder expressing. Last month he was back to how he used to be when he first arrived… bad!! But he seems to be back to his usual self for being expressed now, which we all appreciate very much!
That’s all the Carrot news for now. Thank you so much for being Carrot’s friend, and for all your support of this wonderful boy.
