Update for June

June’s Journal #19

Wow, December already! I love December as we get to celebrate Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanza, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day…and all in one month. It is a fun time of year except for the cold, cold, cold weather outside. But we are warm and toasty inside the Sanctuary. Not only do we have great physical warmth, but we also have the warmth of the love the volunteers and staff give us. This is not just a December love, but an all-year-long love…so we are all good here.

Scribe came to visit me not long ago. She commented on how shiny my coat looked. That is good because that means I am healthy and enjoying a good month of mani’s, pedi’s, and, of course, the usual staff toilettes to help me since I am paralyzed.

When Scribe came to visit, I was not much interested in her back rubs at first. I was in my bed under the cat tree. She seems to come to visit me whenever I am taking my post-mid morning, after feeding, after staff meeting nap (only one of many naps each day). But I did let her give me a mini back rub with her pen. (She brings this book and writes down things about our visit. I hope I get a book deal out of this as I am already a movie star from my video with Puzzle. …reach for the stars!!!! )

I guess you could say I was having a mini snit today. I did not much want a whole back rub and I just scooted away when Scribe tried again. My nose was a bit crusty, and I pulled myself into the corner and got stuck. So while I was in the corner, I got a great ear and head and neck rub from Scribe. In the meantime, she told Denise about my crusty nose and she said she would check me out.

After about 10 minutes of a wonderful head massage, I was done… (major snit at that point)! I was not having anymore of that. But Scribe managed to find more white hairs on my belly near my left leg. Then she just talked to me for a long time in a nice and soft voice and I sat and listened to her. It was soothing and a good substitute for my back rubs.

There’s a new roommate for all of us in the Community Room this month. Some cat that others call Sophia has arrived but I am not paying much attention. My time is taken up by so many visitors, volunteers and staff paying attention to me! I didn’t used to love humans when I was a timid newcomer, but now I love being the center of attention!

I know it is not wise to adopt cats and dogs for Christmas gifts, but I would love to find a home of my very own with someone who can handle a special needs kitty like me. I have to have my bladder and bowels expressed several times a day by hand as I cannot do my own toilettes. But I am a good kitty and have learned over the years to trust humans and to be a part of a group, both kitties and other people who come to visit me. So if you are interested in adopting a special needs baby and are willing to take on the work that comes with it, please come to see me. Even if you do not want to adopt me, come to visit me at the Sanctuary and spend time with me and all the other kitties who live here.
I want to wish all my dear sponsors and friends a very happy holiday season. And no matter what holidays you celebrate during this month, do it with gusto and with love.

Thank you for sponsoring me so I can have such a good life at Tabby’s Place.

Hugs and kitty kisses to all,
June
