Update for Kitten Fund

Beloved Kitten Sponsors,

I’m sure you’re busy bustling around in preparation for any number of approaching winter holidays, and Tabby’s Place is no different. Jonathan is nestled under the Christmas tree and we’ve hung stockings on Anka‘s enclosure with care. And right in the middle of all the holiday joy is a bustling, busy mass of kittens keeping us all on our toes!

I can’t tell you how strange it is to still have so much kitten activity so late in the year. We’ve been in non-stop kitten madness since May and it shows no signs of slowing down! Thanks to your generous sponsorship we’re able to keep giving these precious babies the best possible start in life and find them wonderful homes when they’re ready. We’re hoping to ring in the new year having brought kitten joy to lots of new homes!

And we’re off to a good start. This month saw the following kittens get adopted: Burt Reynolds (with adult cat Polly), Arturo, Gatti, Kowalski, Mort & Skipper (together), Aech & Artemis (together), Tomato, Maritza, Colleen, Tundra & Taylor (together), Edith & Judy (together), Chip, Surprise, Seneca, and Cayuga.

Our Kitten Room remains full, though. Hunts, Catsup, Kimchi, Coleman, and Sauerkraut are slowly coming out of their shy little shells and learning that humans are pretty nice. They can usually be found all sleeping in a big pile atop the cubbies.

Kraft and Kombucha have graduated from the Kitten Room to Suite B, where they are enjoying meeting new friends and having more space to stretch their growing legs. Heinz has graduated to the Community Room, where he’s still trying to figure out what to make of Pixie.

But wait, there’s more! Young mama Yokohama came in with her three babies: Michelin, Pirelli, and Firestone. They’re very shy and the staff at Tabby’s Place is working to better socialize them, along with little Maurice who came in alone but has found a fast friend in Firestone.

In sad news, sweet little Sabine crossed the Rainbow Bridge since our last update. Her storage disease advanced beyond her ability to have a good quality of life and we had to let her go. She passed surrounded by love and having been wonderfully cared for by her foster family. (You can read more about her on the Tabby’s Place blog.)

Little Onondaga, however, gave us good news. He has a head tilt that was originally believed to be the result of an ear poly, but further tests determined that there is no polyp, just a middle ear infection. That means he won’t need surgery! He’s been adopted and his ears are being treated in his new home with medication.

River and Firefly continue to grow and put on weight, though their digestive issues haven’t fully resolved, so they’re still on a special diet that’s easy on their little bellies. And they’re very (very) gradually becoming accustomed to human affection.

And that “for now” is all the kitten news that’s fit to print. From all of us at Tabby’s Place, have a happy and safe holiday season and a wonderful new year. And as always, thank you for helping our youngest residents!
