Update for Max

Hello, friends of Max!

I was looking back over Max’s previous holiday updates to share a few memories with you. In so doing, I realized we have reached a momentous occasion: my three-year anniversary of writing for Max. My, how time flies! It brings me pleasure each month to share his life with you. I hope you have enjoyed reading his news.

Max has been a very good cat this year, showing the manners of a gentleman when meeting new roommates. There have been changes in feline residents over the course of the year, and Max has treated these new cats with respect and kindness. Once upon a time, this was not how Max greeted new suite residents. In the time we have been together as cat and correspondent, Max has become a mellower, gentler cat.

The Tabby’s Place vet team continues to monitor Max’s weight. He dropped a few ounces this past month. He has adjusted well to his thyroid medication, and is in generally good health. Senior cats often start to experience symptoms of things “slowing down” a little. One thing we watch for is early chronic kidney disease. Just as with humans, so with cats, it is best to find these things early and treat them proactively.

I know I speak for all of us at Tabby’s Place when I say I am proud of how far Max has come. Years ago, he came to us as a frightened cat from a desperate situation. Behavioral medication helped him to cope at times. However, it was the love, care and kindness of our wonderful staff and volunteers that gave Max the emotional support he needed. He has returned that love to each of us, time and time again.

Max is truly blessed to be a part of the Tabby’s Place family. He has wonderful sponsors, and I know if he could, Max would be thanking you for your faithful generosity — not just at the holidays, but all year long.

On behalf of Max and Tabby’s Place, I wish you every blessing of the holiday season.
